Beach with fabulous views. Walking on the black sand and sitting on the rocks was amazing. The climb the lion walk was closed however we say from a cliff the beautiful sunset

We visited this beach on our first day in New Zealand. What a great introduction to a beautiful country. The neighbouring Piha Beach is also stunning. Neither of these beaches are particularly suitable for swimming but stunningly beautiful. The black sand is hot underfoot when the sun is shining!

A beautiful beach which really has a large area and we watched families swimming. Water a bit too cold for us , but we did appreciate the beauty.

We came by Karekare beach as a starting point for doing the walk to Whatipu beach and then back around the Gibbons. The carpark was quite large with toilets. The beach is very large and it wasn't very busy when we were there. There are a few trails that goes along the beach but we just walked along the beach instead of heading on the Pohutakawa glade trail to the tunnel campsite. It did get busy when we arrived in the afternoon and most of the parking area was full.

Quite Busy but still room for people to chill - probably wrong time to visit over Christmas festive period when a lot of family parties on the beach but clean, tidy and plenty choice for food and soft drinks

Omaha beach is a magnificent stretch of white sand and pristine water where one can walk to the heart’s content. The centrally located Omaha Surf Lifesaving Club offers a comforting presence for swimmers.

The beach has lovely white sand and the water was warm when we visited (February). Even after this year's awful floods that resulted in black "don't swim" warnings on most other beaches in Auckland, this one was safe to swim. There are restaurants across the street and public change rooms with toilets. You can get there from the passenger ferry terminal on Auckland Transit with an AT HOP pass.

We ended up here as a result of having to change our trip due to the cyclone hitting NZ. What a great choice!! An absolutely beautiful beach that goes forever. Great for walking. Not crowded. Lots of kite sailing overhead. I would say a must go to beach.

Lovely beach for a morning walk when the tide is going out. You can access this from the main road and also from a walking path (that takes you away from the busy road). Great to be able to integrate this beach into a walk to the shopping centre!

This beach is good for those wanting a surf or strong waves for boogie boards. But also nice to have a long stretch of beach for walking - black sand (not the kids playing on the beach were covered!) It is a beautiful spot and we were there about noon and there were lifeguards. At the top of the beach there is a cafe - what more can you wish for?

I invited friends to a picnic on the beach and everyone really enjoyed themselves. There are huge Pohutakawa trees providing dappled shade. The golden sand is soft and clean. Everyone swam or walked along the delightful calm beach. When the tide goes out the tide pools are flat and extend far out to the edge of the headlands on either side. A very special place. No car parks so plan to walk from local streets which are packed at high tide.
