A really special place which is well worth a visit if you're on the North Island of NZ. The tour from Vishwa was awesome too.

The build up hype we received did not live up to it. The place is great for kids but it has seen better days. We are glad we went but it was a little disappointing.

Absolutely wonderful to visit these amazing birds to view them up close but without disturbing them. This colony of gannets is located about 40 minutes from Auckland and is a "must" for nature lovers. We totally enjoyed watching the birds zoom around in the wind and protect their little chicks. Lots of fun!

Amazing nature reserve to camp at. You need a code to enter on a lock pad on the gate (code received after booking). A predator fence protects the many birds, and I mean many (pokeku, pheasants, kiwis, pigeons, owls). The road is windy and narrow to access the park. Beautiful beach views, walks, sand dunes.

Pit style toilets, soap and water provided at the bathrooms. Lots of open space in the paddock to camp. Tons of bird life and bird life noises from the forest. Peaceful and relaxing.

Visited and camped near the beach many years ago. It is a beautiful part of the world. Took my girls snorkling for a couple of hours. Lots of fish, plankton, and a stingray. There is a tidal rip that could get poor swimmers in trouble, but with basic swimming skills you should be OK. Very clear water and a few car parks now.

Spent about 2 hours here on a fairly overcast day. There’s plenty to keep young minds interested, we watched an enrichment feed session with the 4 otters. The Croc enclosures seem rather tiny and the actual croc looked rather plastic, even tho we saw one of them move it’s head and open it’s mouth there was still a feeling of not quite real for some reason. We did have an enjoyable time tho and stayed for lunch in your cafe.

The attraction is quite some way from the main settled areas of Waiheke, and the road is rough. The walk from the carpark is hilly, our kids of 9 and 12 coped fine, but if you can't walk freely it might be a bit tough. The tour itself was excellent. Tim is a passionate and knowledgeable custodian of tunnel system, and he and Ezra were excellent guides. They brought to life a forgotten piece of NZ's military history, I would recommend this tour

We didn’t have time for the whole walk but were greeted by enthusiastic and very helpful staff who obviously have a passion for what they do. Walked up to sunset rock, views are amazing from there .

An interesting location for a reptile park , this was once an old zoo. A little drive from warkworth and not far from Leigh Township.
Although parts of it are very steep and access for some would find difficult, it was still a good walk around with lovely views..
The cages are very old and could do with a spruce up, and some don't seem to have anything in them.
Doesn't mean there isn't anything in them it just means you have to look hard to find lizards in larger enclosure.
There are several alligators, iguana. Loads of different tortoises all around then park. A newish greenhouse enclosure has a picnic bench you can sit and have a snack while watching turtles and an alligator go about their day.
Tucked away in another enclosure are a couple of furry friends with 8 legs. Yes, you guessed it, tarantula.
Monitor lizards, leopard tortoise, and so many more all can be seen.

Well worth a short detour off Highway 1 or taking a drive out from Auckland. Some nice, not too challenging, walks with lovely views. Access to various beaches. Plenty of birdlife. Easy parking and rest rooms on site. Might suggest don't bother with walk out to Cudlip Point - there is no view from the viewing point as its shrouded in trees. Instead, take the Cudlip Point Loop Track for an excellent circular walk.

    Atawhai Whenua Reserve.
Onetangi Reserve - closed to protect against kauri dieback disease.
Te Haahi-Goodwin Reserve - closed to protect against kauri dieback disease.
Keeping Waiheke free of kauri dieback

The island is currently free of kauri dieback disease and it’s important we keep it that way.

This is a wonderful Bush to walk through. It is good for fit and unfit people as there is a flat track or you can go up the hill as well. Unfortunately it is closed at the moment for maintenance.

Pūweto Loop @ the Waitawa Regional Park was a little bit of everything- bushwalks, farmlands , hills and your own private cove 🏊‍♂️ for a proper cooldown. Just make sure you pack a sunhat and some sunscreen, and let your itchy feet guide you to breathtaking views.

So much bird noise in here! I take my 3 yr old regularly to either walk or ride around the boardwalk. In summer it's nice to escape the sunshine and in winter it's nice to do a bush walk and come out with clean shoes.
