Definitely should take time out of your trip to visit! My mom and I rented a car and drove up from Auckland and were so glad we did. Not only are the gardens, sculptures, paintings and art incredible but as is the staff that work there. The restaurant on site was mouthwateringly delicious as well, great way to spend your day

Really enjoyed our day here on a lovely summer’s day. The gardens are quite big and there are so many tracks/areas to walk through. It’s well laid out and has a great variety of plants from the world over. Mixed in are water features & lots of birds about. It’s good to take a picnic and a ball and spend time meandering around. Easy to find and park too. Definitely worth a trip.

A beautiful, frosty walk through the crunchy leaves in the Auckland Domain and then in to see the riot of colour in both glass houses. Fascinating to see all the different flowers, succulents and plants. A gorgeous setting.

    Pretty Parnell Rose Garden
Lovely little garden with a great selection of rose.

Is well maintained and looked after.

We had a wonderful visit to the gardens looking at all the pretty roses.

Great place to stroll and smell the flowers.

We took a group of volunteers to Ayrlies Gardens and Wetlands as a way to say thank you for all the help that they give us at Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga's three Auckland Properties.
Ayrlies Gardens were incredible to explore - the different areas, the colours, and how it is all maintained was just fantastic. Words used to describe the gardens included 'magical,' 'peaceful,' and 'tranquil.'
The group enjoyed a guided tour with Ben, who is part of the gardening team at Ayrlies. The tour around the garden was wonderfully paced, interesting and informative. The tour flowed so nicely, it was relaxed and allowed people to go at their own pace and to wander off or trail behind if something in particular interested them. All the while Ben kept us moving throughout the garden, so we could see as much as possible, while stopping to point out areas of interest or tell us about a particular.
It was a wonderful morning out for everyone.

We has a lovely time wandering around this garden. The Cafe was sweet, with tasty food and a beautiful view when sitting in the courtyard. It was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon and the view from the Hillary Heights walk was nice.

A park set on a rise overlooking the sea. There are a number of sculptures and the Michael Savage memorial. Great views over the sea and plenty of space.

Hidden away behind a garden centre this is a little treasure. Such a great trail with giant outdoor games all along the trail.
With art changing every year it is a place to keep visiting.

Tucked away is the most amazing garden where they nurture monarch butterflies and a plethora of beautiful flowers. So tranquil and lots of beautiful bird life. Such well tended gardens with interesting sculptures and beautiful views

I've visited this place a couple of times with friends and families. It's a hidden sanctuary where one can relax while roaming around the big gardens. It has a small butterfly garden and amazing views. You can also hire a function room for any occasion you want to celebrate. However, the room is not good for a big number of visitors. You can set up a pop-up slides on the grounds adjacent to the function hall. You also have to clean the party venue and bring all your garbage with you, when you leave.

Wrights Watergardens has all the elements one needs for a great garden experience - space, terrain made for a lot of interesting tracks and a super impressive waterfall. And, in fact, I suspect that at one point in its history, Wrights Watergardens must have been awesome. However, whether because of Covid and a lack of visitors or some other factors, the tracks are not maintained to the sort of standard you would expect in a place you pay money to go into, wooden features such as a pergola over a bridge and a swing seat all look as though they were put together in about 1972 and then just left to slowly decompose and even the waterlily beds themselves needed a bit of weeding. Mother Nature has, however, kept up her end of the bargain and the waterfall is seriously cool. Here's hoping a bit more love and|or money comes to help the rest.

We got to view the Mincher Garden as part of the Coatesville Garden Ramble and what a treat it was! The gardens are extensive, full of hidden gems, immaculate nooks and crannies and not only features the most English like garden I have seen outside of the UK but also a bush walk beside a stream, complete with viewing platforms and cascading waterfalls. The place is a credit to the owners - beautifully maintained, carefully thought out and absolutely stunning. Although open by appointment only, it's well worth it if you can find a way to visit...maybe by even trying next year's Coatesville Garden Ramble fundraiser! As I say, quite a treat.
