- ShrijuSydney, Australia31 contributionsAmazing views from this dormant volcano. Enjoyed the sights of Auckland. The walk around the crater was nice. Good place to contemplate tooWritten August 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mmkr948 contributionsDefinitely should take time out of your trip to visit! My mom and I rented a car and drove up from Auckland and were so glad we did. Not only are the gardens, sculptures, paintings and art incredible but as is the staff that work there. The restaurant on site was mouthwateringly delicious as well, great way to spend your dayWritten August 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Em C1 contributionA really special place which is well worth a visit if you're on the North Island of NZ. The tour from Vishwa was awesome too.Written May 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CrayeaterHamilton, New Zealand88 contributionsAlways a bit of a moral decision when considering visiting a zoo as they try to balance animal welfare with people education and species conservation. I think the Auckland zoo really has the balance right for me.
It is around 20 years since I last visited it and I am so impressed with how the environments have been improved for the animals, and how informative and educational the signage was around the animals. I took my three nephews and they learned plenty while being fully engaged in seeing different animals for the over four hours we visited. There were also plenty of volunteers on hand to answer any questions and help spot some of the harder to find animals on a cold winter day.Written July 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great food available.Written June 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sophie75 contributionsThe views at the end make it worthwhile. Given there is only one feasible way up, as well as everyone arriving on the same boat, expect some foot traffic on the way up. Would recommend going back down a different (less direct) route for a more peaceful walk. It is a lovely escape from the city, and would definately take advantage of stopping off in Devenport on your return.Written June 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - idotomanyreviewsAuckland, New Zealand31 contributionsIt's a great walk in which you get to walk amongst the sheep and cows. At the end of the track is a great ice cream shop. This is a great nature walk away from the city while still in the city!Written June 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Russell BJacksonville, FL243 contributionsThe build up hype we received did not live up to it. The place is great for kids but it has seen better days. We are glad we went but it was a little disappointing.Written March 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tabatha1998Auckland, New Zealand573 contributionsGood views across Auckland. Although you can walk to the top, it is safer by car. - RParbhooJohannesburg, South Africa601 contributionsAbsolute love the park 😊
10 min bus ride from Auckland CBD . Park houses war museum and winter garden .
Park has so much to offer to both, locals and tourists, regardless of the time of the year. Whether you are a museum and history lover, botanical and animal lover, or prefer activities like walking, running or playing rugby, you will find fun in this massive park.
On-site restaurant also one in museum . Plenty to do . You can spend easily few hours !Written August 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We only had about 50 minutes to do the trail, when we had planned for 1.5 hours. I’d say definitely give yourself 1.5 hours and 2 hours would be easy to spend there.Written July 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - goonerjon2Auckland, New Zealand130 contributionsReally enjoyed our day here on a lovely summer’s day. The gardens are quite big and there are so many tracks/areas to walk through. It’s well laid out and has a great variety of plants from the world over. Mixed in are water features & lots of birds about. It’s good to take a picnic and a ball and spend time meandering around. Easy to find and park too. Definitely worth a trip.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada1,990 contributionsThis well maintained park is near the Art Museum and University of Auckland. In here there are quite a few places to sit and relax. There are some nice statues and sculptures. We enjoyed the view of the many nearby towers including the clock tower of the university and the Sky Tower.Written July 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jan S1 contributionA group of us booked out the Superintendent’s House and had a fantastic stay. We enjoyed walks, swimming, birdwatching and phosphorescence at night!
We went in June and practically had the island to ourselves. Very special.
Highly recommend!Written June 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
