What travelers are saying
- Philip PHerentals, Belgium1,278 contributionsWe had a guided tour of the central part of the collection, excellently illustrating the blending of the European with the local influences. I discovered a few masterpieces that are not well-known outside NZL. To return and to spend more time there. After the tour we had a dinner, excellent in this environment as well.Written July 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Iain B13 contributionsThe collection of sculptures at Connells Bay is brilliant. There are plenty to see and the terrain isn't all flat. But you don't even notice that during the trail you're climbing quite high. There are so many wonderful distractions, from the art and also from the natural scenery around the Park. This is a must do on Waiheke, and in Auckland for that matter.
You can add to the delight of the occasion by booking accommodation at their Cottage too.
The art gallery has some wonderful reading material so if you're into learning more about the pieces and art generally allow plenty of time to take it all in.Written June 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. As a child, my wife boarded in this house when it was a Cathoilc Boarding School, so it was great for here to reminisce. She even found her old bedroomWritten September 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We learned so much about Colin McCahon, his family history and his artwork during our visit to this house. Not having been to New Zealand before, we hadn't heard of Colin McCahon until we stayed in Titirangi and saw the signpost to the house. The museum guide was so engaging, taking us on a personal tour through the garden to the bottom of the house. She explained all about how Colin had extended the house to fit his family and showed us where he had worked on his paintings. We felt that we had been given an incredible insight into the life of a great painter. Thank you.Written February 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Katieclem46Hamilton, New Zealand681 contributionsThe Corbans Estate Arts Centre isn’t easy to find but it’s well worth making the effort. The difficulty is that the address is given as 426 Great North Rd, but the access is on Mt Lebanon Lane. There are quality exhibitions here, and a small but good shop with a range of quality works for sale. Staff are knowledgeable about the artists, and very helpful. Free parking on site.Written December 22, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
