I had the pleasure of having Murray as my guide as I visited the museum in late July. The tour was supposed to last about an hour, but took quite a while longer, as Murray was more than happy to answer all my questions. I can warmly recommend everyone to book the guided tour, especially if you're in a bit of a hurry and haven't gotten the time to browser around for hours, but still want to know all the cool stuff.

A fantastic journey through New Zealand’s maritime history that captivated my attention from the beginning of my tour to the end.

I’m not a sailing or boating enthusiast but the series of well curated exhibits kept me interested all through my time there.

NZ Warbirds was worth the trip! Such a nice collection of aircraft and great staff to provide some of the history. Also, a nice little shop and the airport is not crowded at all and a very calm experience.

We were in Auckland for holiday and took an Uber to/from downtown to get there which was very easy and only about 30 minutes each way.

This place is a joy to visit! Full of old musical instruments which are mostly in perfect working order. My favourite was the piano which worked by pumping the pedals!! It played the music as if you were a Maestro!!
The lady in attendance gave us a very comprehensive history of the place.. it is maintained on a voluntary basis and relies on donations from visitors. They have recitals there every so often. A very interesting and enjoyable place to visit.

We arrived at closing timing, but the volunteers there, opened up for us and we had a great hour walking around with our own personal guide. It’s quirky, loads of local stuff a church they moved down the hill. Go and visit it for an hour.

They generally get 20 visitors a day

A fascinating place to visit. We learned so much about Colin McCahon, his family history and his artwork during our visit to this house. Not having been to New Zealand before, we hadn't heard of Colin McCahon until we stayed in Titirangi and saw the signpost to the house. The museum guide was so engaging, taking us on a personal tour through the garden to the bottom of the house. She explained all about how Colin had extended the house to fit his family and showed us where he had worked on his paintings. We felt that we had been given an incredible insight into the life of a great painter. Thank you.

We went as a I group of 26 elderly folk there on a days outing (in winter) and it was soooooooooooooo delightful we spent nearly 2 hours there as though it is not large there is so much to see and the folk to care for it are so knowledgeable on the area. Well worth a good donation!!! Nickie F

After a nice drive through the Auckland countryside we were greeted by Bob and his amazing model railway. Our 3 year old loved it and Bob was very enthusiastic providing us all with lots of information about his railway. They are open on Sundays but are happy to open up on other days if you are passing by. Very accommodating and for only $2 you can't really beat it.

This museum is very new, and will no doubt grow. Gives you an insight into one of New Zealands treasures, Crown Lynn Pottery and its history commencing in Walton on Thames in the UK. The Curator was very knowledgeable, and gave a very enthusiastic talk about the Museum and his aspirations for the future. The Museum is close to New Lynn Railway Station was easy assess from the city.
Note a donation would be very much appreciated.

This is a fair priced convenient located restaurant on the "foreshore"of Takapuna beach, well worth visiting for a quick bite or for a time to linger longer.

A dark and cool old hall full of unlabelled artifacts from the past. if you are a farmer, dairy milker, or sheepherder, you will appreciate the classilc tools and farm articels from 100 years ago.
It''s much more interesting if you are over 70, and can remember the ldays of hand milking and shearing sheds.
if you are under 20, you will appreciate the manual typewriters and childrens games.
The museum is struggling to stay open, and is down to 2 1/2 hours open on sunday every weeki.

I was blown away by the amount of work and attention to detail the people of Weta Workshop has done to bring the experience to life. Getting a unique and very educational look into what happens "behind-the-scenes" really makes you appreciate their work all the more.
