I had the pleasure of having Murray as my guide as I visited the museum in late July. The tour was supposed to last about an hour, but took quite a while longer, as Murray was more than happy to answer all my questions. I can warmly recommend everyone to book the guided tour, especially if you're in a bit of a hurry and haven't gotten the time to browser around for hours, but still want to know all the cool stuff.

Definitely should take time out of your trip to visit! My mom and I rented a car and drove up from Auckland and were so glad we did. Not only are the gardens, sculptures, paintings and art incredible but as is the staff that work there. The restaurant on site was mouthwateringly delicious as well, great way to spend your day

We had a guided tour of the central part of the collection, excellently illustrating the blending of the European with the local influences. I discovered a few masterpieces that are not well-known outside NZL. To return and to spend more time there. After the tour we had a dinner, excellent in this environment as well.

A fantastic journey through New Zealand’s maritime history that captivated my attention from the beginning of my tour to the end.

I’m not a sailing or boating enthusiast but the series of well curated exhibits kept me interested all through my time there.

I live in Warkworth but never been here until I’ve needed some unique presents to take overseas with me. Bought a necklace for my sister in law and she loved it, everyone complimented on it. Thanks! Happy to support local.

An excellent museum in a beautiful location. Great for families and anyone with an interest in military history. Don't miss the North Head Tunnels while you are there.

The collection of sculptures at Connells Bay is brilliant. There are plenty to see and the terrain isn't all flat. But you don't even notice that during the trail you're climbing quite high. There are so many wonderful distractions, from the art and also from the natural scenery around the Park. This is a must do on Waiheke, and in Auckland for that matter.
You can add to the delight of the occasion by booking accommodation at their Cottage too.
The art gallery has some wonderful reading material so if you're into learning more about the pieces and art generally allow plenty of time to take it all in.

NZ Warbirds was worth the trip! Such a nice collection of aircraft and great staff to provide some of the history. Also, a nice little shop and the airport is not crowded at all and a very calm experience.

We were in Auckland for holiday and took an Uber to/from downtown to get there which was very easy and only about 30 minutes each way.

It's very educational about the plankton, fish, dolphins, and whales in the surrounding area there are great informative displays as well as videos to watch and microscopes to view, and even hands-on interaction. There are toilets on site and a friendly woman at the front desk to welcome you and answer any questions that you may have. It's only open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm and costs $9 per adult $7 for seniors and $5 for children which is value for money. It's only 250 meters up the pathway. There is no parking but it's possible to drop everyone at the door and drive back down to park. It's a great place to take the children as there is also somewhere to color in a fish as well as there being a small souvenir shop on site. The admission charge goes back into the center so it is a good cause to further educate everyone but our oceans and marine reserve. I highly recommend taking a look especially for families.

This place is a joy to visit! Full of old musical instruments which are mostly in perfect working order. My favourite was the piano which worked by pumping the pedals!! It played the music as if you were a Maestro!!
The lady in attendance gave us a very comprehensive history of the place.. it is maintained on a voluntary basis and relies on donations from visitors. They have recitals there every so often. A very interesting and enjoyable place to visit.

My wife and I were at a conference nearby, so detoured to visit.

As a child, my wife boarded in this house when it was a Cathoilc Boarding School, so it was great for here to reminisce. She even found her old bedroom

What a wonderful gallery! We really enjoyed our visit here. The staff were friendly and engaging. The exhibits are beautifully presented and show that the gallery works closely with the community. Highlights of our visit included a ceramics exhibition that had resulted from a competion and a youth project developed in connection with a local school which had given young people an opportunity to express themselves through large clay models and to tell their story. Fabulous! Great views from the top of the building.
