What travelers are saying
- DenverJim48Englewood, CO261 contributionsWonderful place to visit. Great historical perspective of New Zealand settlers. Lots of buildings to wander to and through.Written March 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ITRTVirginia38,544 contributionsA visit to Parnell Village will surprise you to know it was once a Bohemian paradise. Today it is gentrified and known for its wonderful restaurants, charming cafes, and expensive shops. Parnell was established as New Zealand’s first suburb in 1841. It is filled with many ivy-covered buildings and narrow brick lanes. Worth taking the time to explore this delightful village.Written April 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Erin B33 contributionsWe has a lovely time wandering around this garden. The Cafe was sweet, with tasty food and a beautiful view when sitting in the courtyard. It was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon and the view from the Hillary Heights walk was nice.Written February 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephanie WBasingstoke, UK3 contributionsChristopher one of the guides gave us a very interesting and knowledgable talk about both the house and the family. Alfred Buckland the original owner led a very interesting life and many children. - JunkmanNZAuckland52 contributionsWe were here so went to visit. It was nicely laid out. Got to see a number of "how it was back then" rooms.
Quite a bit of information about each room and lots of details about the progress of the renovation. There are still more rooms that they are planning to work on, but these will just add to what is already there, and didn't mean that anything felt missed out.Written December 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LindaSilverdale, New Zealand4 contributionsWe have family living in the Silverdale area, so we decided to come visit the pioneer village. It was well curated and cared for. - Suet SuetHong Kong, China126 contributionsCottage is only open on Sunday but we visited on a Saturday so we could only look at it from the outside. Looked a bit dusty but generally well maintained.
I would also suggest visiting Kinder House situated just 10min walk upslope from Ewelme Cottage if you're looking for more historic tours!Written July 4, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JimCinNZNorth Shore, New Zealand57 contributionsThis is a great place to take the dog for a walk, or to show visitors the magnificent views out over the Gulf. The council promised to start repairs on the stairway down to the beach in February and have it finished by today. The reality is they have yet to even start! So much for the Auckland Super City...…...Written March 31, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TURNERONapier, New Zealand42 contributionsWe have visited this memorial quite a few times over the years. Quite small but always well kept. A quiet place for reflection. Couldn’t get to the memorial his time around due to covid19, but will return here once the pandemic is all over. Lest we forget.Written April 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- EmilySan Diego, CA29 contributionsBeautiful cemetery, but unfortunately it's in shambles at present. It could be due to the recent cyclone - which has taken out some of the nature tail that connects to the cemetery.Written March 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
