Absolutely loved the gardens - especially the Africa section with all the different kinds of Aloe's.

Nice place. The water fall and Opal pool are great. The narrow roads however are an absolute nightmare when lots of cars are parked on the sides of the road due to not enough proper parking. You can literally find yourself at an impasse. I found myself face to face with a ‘resident’ who was the biggest rude, moron, idiot I’ve ever met. I wouldn’t wish that encounter on anyone. I do find it funny that he has to experience that phenomenally bad traffic congestion every weekend when he needs to go somewhere though. Apart from the traffic issues and that ridiculous man and unfortunate experience it’s a great place to visit. Hope you don’t run into the resident clown.

Brisk uphill walk to the summit. Having the road closed makes it more enjoyable. Great view of the city.

Great place to visit. I had never been here before and I did a day trip here and it was awesome. There is accommodation available if you want to stay (needs to be booked in advance). Lots of different options to swim, lots of walks, even ice blocks for sale. Decent boat trip as Rotoroa is behind Waiheke if coming from Auckland. Overall would come back again, recommended.

This is a great day out in Auckland especially for family/friend groups.
I would recommend buying your ferry tickets online to avoid the hassle of having to buy them prior to boarding or avoiding missing out (especially peak times like school holidays, weekends, summer) on the ferry time you want, although there are several times per day.
Excellent views at the top. Walk straight to the summit or do other walks around the volcano.
Summit walk is 1 hour to the top, we took less time coming back down.
Take food and water (no shops), only toilets available. Take a jacket or be prepared for the weather/season you go in.
Cell phone reception available. I am with Vodafone and it worked fine.
Cafe available on the ferry if needed.

Magical experience cruising out to Tiri Tiri Matangi on a comfortable Explore Vessel, spotting a wonderful pod of Common Dolphins on the way. The Island is an absolute must visit for everyone, being a wonder of conservation and home to many endangered birds. Pay for a guided tour which at $10, is a steal. Our wonderful volunteer guide Neal drew our eye to many aspects of the Island we would otherwise have missed. Neal was amazingly passionate and knowledgeable, but I'm sure all the other guides would be fantastic too. Stay overnight on the Island to maximise enjoyment of the walking tracks, historical buildings, beaches, bird watching, the Dawn Chorus and Kiwi spotting. Thank you DOC and Supporters of Tiri Tiri Matangi for a wonderful, unbeatable experience!

Amazing day, great value for money. We have never been to a zoo where you feel as close to the animals as you do here.

Everything was good value here and the kids park was excellent.

    Absolutely amazing ☆☆☆☆☆

We were picked up from the ferry terminal by Evelyn in the Man O' War bus. We were the only ones on the bus so got quite the experience. Evelyn was absolutely lovely and so informative.

Once we got to the vineyard we had a tasting done, can't remember her name but I think she was French and she was so great. Then we sat and watched the world go by whilst drinking some fantastic wine and a delicious platter.

Once we were ready, and after purchasing wine to take home...Evelyn took us back to the ferry terminal. This was only our 2nd time on the island but we have been lucky enough to experience 6 or 7 of the local vineyards and this is definitely a favourite. It is off the beaten track but so worth it. Great day and beautiful place.

Motat excels as a cross generational interactive outing and Live Steam Day was no exception. To hear 'Rough Town' performing live in the aircraft hanger was a real highlight as was seeing the Avenger folding and unfolding its wings and taking a ride on the steam train around to climb aboard an old US Army truck. The volunteers and staff are fountains of knowledge and it is one place where children and adults alike are always greeted and encouraged to get involved and experience a slice of social and technological history, as well as exploring "the Future".... another awesome Motat experience.

Easy to go to the waterfalls
If you look for a track there's more 10-15min drive from the falls
The ranger on site helped us to find where it was and we also used google map
We started from the Suspension Bridge and ended up at Wairoa Loop, it took us an hour, it's better to start from the bridge unless you want to climb a lot of stairs from Wairoa ;)

Devonport is located on Auckland's North Shore. This seaside suburb is only 12 minutes from the Auckland CBD. It's well-known for its laid-back lifestyle, and the numerous harbourside bars and restaurants, Devonport was one of the first neighbourhoods settled in the Auckland area, and it's well-known for its heritage charm, Devonport is said to resemble the Californian city of Sausalito. Devonport is the main base for the Royal New Zealand Navy.
