What travelers are saying
- Karen VGrantville, PA119 contributionsAutumn at Bushkill was beautiful! While there were loads of autumn seekers, the trails flowed easily. Trails are marked and there are plenty of signs in the event you get off your trail.Written October 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KatnaperBedford, PA26 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide, Rosetta, was so knowledgeable. The house is beautiful, but what is really unique is the owners possessions are still in it. Including an oversized organ; that we had the privilege of hearing. Such opulence. There is one caveat, you have to climb a lot stairs to get to the mansion. It is well worth the effort.Written October 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ShaneSellsSeashells281 contributionsThe parking lot had ample space to park and the wooden boardwalk path was easy to locate. The first site was a mere minute into the hike at Silver Thread Falls. The vast height was mind boggling. The journey takes you over a flexible bridge, weaves you around different foliage and drops you at natures eye candy. Right before you get to the wide platform you can take a steep stair path to the left. This will take you to the top of the falls in a series of integrated levels and platforms so you can rest. The best part was looking down and seeing all of the series of natural made circular pools and smooth formations. This trail was handicap accessible with the exception of the alternative path at the end to climb to the top. The microcosm of environment was fascinating! The mist, moss and fairy like atmosphere felt magical! I should add that I picked this site over Bushkill Falls because I read online that it was a little more laid back and free. Two thumbs down for the bathrooms. I didn’t use them you there is no avoiding the stench as you walk by.Written November 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kishauna DNew York84 contributionsThere’s a lot to love about this place. First, the location: it’s up in the mountains where the fresh air and views of fall foliage are absolutely breathtaking.
Second, it’s a mega resort: there are two massive waterparks, plenty of outdoor activities year-round, two restaurants, two bars, a coffee shop, arcade, and more!
However, the main reason we chose this venue is because we believed it would be great for our pets. Here are just a few ways that it fell short for our fur babies:
1. No designated *enclosed* space. The pet relief area located waaaaay in back is just an open patch of grass directly next to an active road. A truly pet friendly environment should have a safe space for pups to run and play, off leash.
2. Designated Pet Rooms have carpeting. Animals tend to mark, so having a dirty carpet in the room that’s clearly been soiled is unhygienic and encourages more marking. Hard flooring would be easier to clean and therefore much more hygenic and visually appealing.
3. On this massive property that’s known for its waterpark, would it kill them to have just one indoor puppy pool? The visual alone of puppies frolicking in a sprinkler or shallow pool would be an epic ad.
4. Allowing only one pet per room is just sad. Standard for most “pet friendly” resorts are two pets, at least in a double room.
Separately, they need smart tvs in the rooms. Everywhere that we’ve gone lately has had TVs with Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming platforms already built in so we could just login, enjoy our shows in the evening, and log out before we leave.
Booking the Mountain Adventure tickets was a slow and clunky process that we had to do on our phones, then the kiosk wouldn’t work to print the vouchers.
Lastly, every night we were subjected to several hours of hallway and neighboring room noise. Thumping a footsteps, children running down the long hallways, drunk people taking loudly, elevator doors opening and closing, etc. I’m a light sleeper, so it definitely kept me up.Written October 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We booked a resort and it was good .. rooms were spacious and very comfortable . Cost of the water park is a little more than all other parks . May be worth just once . Good and other things are very expensive inside ..
Waterpark wise , it was good. We loved the wave pool 🌊 all the rides were good . Kids loved it . Lazy river was good and the splash zone was kids favorite . Again, I thought it was expensive /.. wish it was cheaper . Lots of parking outside and located in the heart of poconos . Loved it overall if not the the price …Written July 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We are used to walking in an urban setting but not vigorous hiking, so this felt a bit challenging (in a good way) The hike took us one hour. The terrain is uneven large rocks and roots, so you have to watch your step to be careful not to twist you ankle. I would not recommend this hike if the ground were wet or icy. The trail runs beside a stream and features a waterfall. It is very pretty.Written October 12, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elizabeth KToms River, NJ1 contributionWe really had a good time. It was crowded but the staff kept lines moving. They were very safety conscious, all working together to keep everyone safe & happy. We were tubing but the slopes look beautiful too. - arnesalkinWest Orange, NJ45 contributionsMidweek at Mount Airy is always a good choice for the cost-conscious. The grounds and facility are well maintained, and the staff, especially the valet parking team, is attentive and kind.
The room at Mount Airy was not just clean, but also well-appointed, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring stay.
Don't expect to watch television if you enjoy the network channels and political cable channels. I am glad we were there after the Olympics because guests were up in arms without NBC. I was disappointed during the DNC, which was not as bad.
The restaurants need some updating. The noodle shop is too small and doesn't allow reservations, and Guy Fieri is getting boring.Written August 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are two trails to both get you to the famous overlook (it’s so worth the hike!) The Red Dot Trail is the hardest one. Very steep, lots of rocks and more geared towards an advanced hiker. The Blue Dot Trail is less steep & but has more length. We chose the Blue Dot Trail! We started on the Appalachian Trail which follows along the streams/small waterfalls then cuts over to the Blue Dot which starts the climb. The Blue Dot has a decent amount of areas that is very steep but nothing super hard! Deff a good work out.
Tips:
- come early!!! The parking lots offered are TINY for the amount of people that come here. We arrived around 10AM and it was full. Had to wait for someone to leave to grab the last spot.
- Hiking shoes are a MUST! Lots of un even rocky areas to twist an ankle on.
- Bring snacks & water- it’s a haul!
We did the Blue Dot UP and Blue Dot DOWN after spending time at the top with the overlook. It was around 5.5 miles round trip according to our watches! Took about 3 hours to the top & back with a lunch stop at the top/some scenic view enjoyment.
Beautiful nature. Great exercise & stunning overlook view of the mountains/river below! Super worth it! Just come prepared for a long & somewhat hard hike.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Like other outlets, very weak when raining (hard to walk around), but it’s walkable. It’s a good manageable size but less food areas. It’s crowded but not as crazily crowded as the Woodberry commons in NY (or ones in NJ).Written September 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Liz F14 contributionsThey encourage you to use a kiosk to check in. Which in theory should be easy. However, when we went to get on into our room with four kids and luggage, no access. So we had to go all the way back down to the front desk to find out there was no customer service for people who are already checked in. So we had to wait in an hour line for traditional check in anyway. My advice to you is just do traditional when you get there otherwise you can wait in long lines two times.
The water park was great but a little confusing the kiosk for the lockers assigns you a random number. I walked all around and couldn't find it and when I went to the information desk where it says information and towels on the sign the man says I don't do that. So I when one another Journey to find the locker.
We took advantage of a 24-hour flash deal so we got a really good price I would never pay full price. We really like the add-on breakfast the next day that was very good. The room was lovely, except for the lamp didn't work, and the phone to call the front desk didn't work. Once you get an idea of how things flow I think it is easier, but for anyone who's there for the first time you kind of are on your own to figure things out.Written February 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Being a 5 th generation miner,he had many personal stories to add. Into the dark, damp mountain you go, it’s amazing how brave these miners are and gives you a deep respect for these men and boys. You won’t be sorry!Written October 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
