I have taken very young children and older children here and they have loved it too, re-enacting historical events in the ruins - great for the imagination and great for picnics.
An interesting little shop is also on site and you could spend a good hour or two looking around, and as a bonus if you have children there is plenty of space for them to stretch their legs quite safely.
