It is about half a mile from the pier but take a taxi anyway. The owner and staff went way beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They never let you go without a drink and would walk out into the water to get you a drink. The drink choices were also good. The traditional Mexican lunch was delicious. Well worth the cost and I will definitely go again if I am ever back in the area. - Robert HHouston, TX2 contributionsIts they place we go anytime that we go to Cozumel, we normally know in advance, and the pricing is much better than stopping in without early reservation (30% more) Water is always great at the beach, and the pool areas are a great place to relax later in the day. WE dont really drink that much, so buying an all-inclusive is not really a need, but you will have less personal attention with the blue arm band over the pink one.

We rented a jeep and cruised on down it was a great time even with all the rain we loved it. - John Paul B1 contributionWent here as one of the stops for Royal Caribbean cruise. The beach was beautiful and there were many shops. It was just a 5 minute taxi ride from the port where we docked, and it was very safe. If you’re on a Cruise and stop in Costa Maya, I would highly consider leaving the port area and taking a taxi to the beach. We stayed in Playa del Carmen and the beach wasn’t great there, but our Airbnb host was kind enough to offer their access to the beach here. When we went, there was crystal clear water, minimal seaweed, and no crowds! - Frank U142 contributionsFor years this has always been my favorite beach on the island. So it was with mixed feelings that I revisited after the price increase. Yes, they are definitely charging $20/pp as an entrance fee which does not go towards your tab and on top of that cab prices have increased so it is now $35 to get there from the town center. Our bags were not searched at all, you do get a very nice lounge chair, side table and umbrella. The bathrooms appear to have been improved since my last visit in May of 2023. The service was quite good and I was glad to see that one of our favorite waiters was still there and the drinks were very tasty. "Normally" we would easily spend $170 between drinks, food and massages but we ate before coming and only had 2 rounds of drinks ($40). My rating for it is based more on nostalgia I guess because even though $20/pp is outrageous ($10/pp seems much more fare) I am still in love with the beach, especially when there are a lot of cruise ships in town as was the case this visit. Palancar is not on the "excursion list" so it tends to be very laid back and tranquil (except for the jackass who decided to bring his own bluetooth speaker so we could all be blessed with his musical choices....don't be that guy!). So in short, if it's a busy cruise day and you want to get away to a pretty soft sand beach this might be right for you.
