My friends and I wanted to do a fun day trip while staying in Bonnechere Provincial Park in August and Wilderness Tours was the perfect plan! We lucked out with a lovely sunny day and ideal river levels. Our raft guide Elodie was an absolute gem who knew her stuff and made it a very welcoming experience. Incredible first time white-water rafting and would definitely do it again!

We did a day of Sport rafting. 100% impressed with Owl, their facilities and staff. Everything extremely well organized, a very good operation. Someone was injured on a different raft and needed evacuation and that went off extremely well. Owl is a well oiled machine 👍

I have been to MKC many times over the years, and it is a fabulous way to spend a weekend or a week. I did the 5 day kayaking course with my daughter and granddaughter this year. The instruction at MKC is some of the best you will find anywhere in the world. The facilities are beautiful. It is set in a wooded area of north east Ontario. August is a great time to attend because the water is warm, and not a lot of bugs. July may be a bit warmer, , and early September in this area can be very beautiful, and the water is still warm. May and June in this area can be a bit buggy so come prepared if you are going in the early summer.

The river is dam fed from a top release dam, so the conditions are consistent and the water warm-- no need for dry suits-- I think the water was around 80 degrees this past week. The river itself is probably a class 2-3 river, but has some good technical lines for more advanced paddlers.

MKC is great at accommodating all levels of paddlers. I have gone with paddlers who have never been in white water, or a kayak for that matter, and by the end of the week, they are running the river with confidence. I have been doing white water kayaking for around 30 years, and I still learn something new every time I go. More importantly, I have fun with both the family I bring and the staff at the facility.

The business is now being managed by the founder's granddaughter. It is a third generation business. Stefi holds true to her grand parents and parents vision of a top notch teaching facility, but at the same time brings her own touches and personality to the operation. Since Stefi has starting running MKC, I have notice some really nice changes to the facilities, and the food is excellent-- I am vegetarian and really enjoyed the vege dishes. Lots of good looking meat dishes for those who like them. The staff all seem to be very happy and excited to be doing what they are doing. They clearly have a solid team that makes every part of the experience excellent.

There are various packages available. You can camp and do your own meals if you are on a budget. They have bunk style rooms for groups, and individual rooms for individuals and couples. There are also several screen walled cabins up in the bush that I love-- feels like camping but with a real bed and no wet tent to deal with when you get home. The accommodations are not fancy, but clean and comfortable. The chalet where meals are served and where people gather is beautiful. If you have kayaks (or canoes if that is what you are doing) you can use your own equipment or rent from MKC. There equipment is top of the line.

Price wise, I view it as an all inclusive vacation with the added benefit of instruction. It is a lot less money that you would pay for an all inclusive vacation pretty much anywhere else, and you are building skills and great memories.

Decided to book the tandem kayak experience for my and my partner as something to do while we were enjoying a mini weekend getaway.

The volunteers prep you well before you get in the kayak and everyone is super friendly. We chose the tandem kayak and since we'd both never tried it, we thought the next 2-3 hours going to be quite the adventure, especially hearing that there were rapids along the route.
And what an adventure it was.

**FULL DISCLOSURE: I understand that what transpired next was my fault, as I had the plastic ziploc back with my phone and car keys out in my lap because I wanted to take pictures as we went along our route. I am not blaming the staff nor anyone else. However, I hope that my experience can be a warning to others.**

Our kayak hit a rapid and we flipped with the ziploc bag carrying my phone and car keys literally thrown from my lap and into the river and I watched as it was carried away by the current.

If anything, I hope my experience is a warning to others: don't play on your phone and keep them safely tucked away in your lifejacket pocket OR in a dry bag. You never know when you'll hit a rapid wrong and everything will just tip.

The staff and owner were super duper kind as my partner and I pulled up at the end of the route and explained what had happened. They told me that situations like these happen way too often, with at least one customer saying they lost a phone each day they're open for operation.

A suggestion I have is to potentially install paid lockers to keep stuff like car keys (or items of importance that you can't keep in the car but are also too important to bring with you down the river). Even if your phone is gone, at least you can get into your car!

That being said though, I would definitely come back so that I can actually enjoy the entire experience again (with the proper safety precautions). The staff are extremely friendly and kind, and the route is actually quite serene. The rapids are super fun to cross, as long as you do it right.

I booked the rafting + riverside camping very last minute (less than a week in advance) in hopes of being able to join a group of friends who were going rafting on Saturday, but when I arrived, I was told that the river that day was fully booked and my reservation would have to be moved to kayaking on Sunday.

I was a little disappointed at first, but the experience was incredible and now I have no complaints. Because I was alone (and during covid), I had to paddle a two-person kayak solo, which was very challenging, but also very fun. One of the guides, Tao, was a huge help with navigating the rapids and also a great conversationalist while paddling between rapids.

I would definitely go back and solo kayak again!

This was such a fun experience! Our first time tubing and we had a blast! We loved the beautiful waterfalls, cliffs, and wildflowers we could see as we floated down the gorge. The experience was a great mix of fun rapids and slower, more relaxing parts. We opted for the red tubes with the seat and were glad that we did as there are a few shallow areas with rocks. We also appreciated that we could book further in advance online when we booked with your company as we were coming from out of town. An awesome experience - lots of smiles and laughs! We’ll be back!

Great experience with Boreal River Adventures. Hired the services of BRA to lead a session of whitewater kayarafting for our youth group. The instructors did a great job in leading the session - very professional. I would definitely recommend them.

Fantastic family friendly trip on the water. Lawrence was amazing as a guide and had the best jokes! Great ending on the natural lazy river and cliff jumping!!!

So much fun and the kids loved it. Bring goggles or snorkels (fish and other finds in the water) and water shoes if you are squirmy about squishy river bottoms.
Just an FYI, small baby leeches were caught sticking to our bodies when exiting the river so be aware of these little suckers when exiting the water - we had a case of water in our vehicle, and used those to rinse our bodies off…

Spent the weekend with my wife and had a blast. Being in the over-60 age range did not deter us from rafting in the swirling waters. We both loved the experience and would love to go back with friends. The cabins are Spartan, but functional, and the food is adequate. The location is lovely, the air is fresh, and the personnel is helpful, encouraging, and always in good spirits.

This is a super fun experience, for any family or friend group. It starts out from the wild bus ride to the river. Then you float down the River for roughly 4 hours. I definitely recommend getting a cooler tube for snacks and drinks. As well as grabbing one of the paddles they offer, to help you avoid any unexpected obstacles. They also offer to connect your tube to others in your group or let you ride solo, it’s up to you. Either way is lots of fun! There are also a few areas to stop and swim along your ride.

Amazing organization. Inflatables were all in great shape. We were given proper paddles. Taxi voucher back to the start was included in the fee. Galt was lots of fun. Top notch experience.
