We were travelling from Australia and with this being our sole experience with a "White Christmas" we went a little crazy - booking Capilano, Van Dusen and Butchart Gardens all on the same trip.
I was a little concerned about Capilano as the pricing was considerably more expensive than any of the other lights we'd booked. We booked online and just caught a taxi from Vancouver to the event. We caught the free shuttle back to downtown at the end of the night. The tickets were still expensive, far more than Butchart Gardens or Van Dusen. That said, we thought they were worthwhile. If you reserve, ask for Jason Southern to be the guide. He is really interesting and make the long time on the road past as it was few minutes!!!!! It’s warm in the gondola too. At the top a walk up to the weather station and history tour is a must. We had good weather. - LAI PING C2 contributionsThe trip to see the Northern Lights is amazing. Our tour guide, Sheldon, is the best tour giude I met for I joined three tours in Yellowknife. He is experienced, enthusiastic and helpful. Though the weather was not good enough, he taught us many skills in taking photos of Aurora, helping us to find the best location to view it and setting up camera in every different locations to take photos for all of us. We were in great hands with Luke and Sarah we felt safe and well looked after at all times. We were given clear and simple instructions at each zip line and great information on the beautiful forest area that we passed through. We did see the great aurora light and took a lot of photos under the temperature -38C. He is also the guide of the ice-fishing activity. He took good care of every guests and fried fish is delicious 😋. My husband is lucky to catch a fish at the last minute. Super freezing but it’s worth. - William L7 contributionsLast week my family joined the 4 days 3 nights tour with Yellowknife Tours and it was an unforgettable and excellent experience. Not only we were luckily enough to witness the amazing aurora under -30 deg. C, the day time activities they offered were equally enjoyable, culture-oriented and adventurous. Unlike the other tour companies, they will not hard sell anything to its customers. Most importantly, the staffs are all very friendly, detailed oriented, hard-working and did everything they could to accommodate their customers' need. They were just amazing! Heartfelt thanks to CK, Angela, Verda, Angus, Phyllis, Janet and Joey! My family simply felt like we were visiting old friends who live in Yellowknife!
