- Ilion62Smithtown, NY119 contributionsGotta go once while in Cabo. It’s an institution and really fun way to start the night. Crazy drinking games, audience participation and upside down shots if you can stomach it! Have fun!Written June 17, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

It was a super fun place to go to, right on the beach in front of a great place to swim and hangout. The service was super and the food was delicious. Visited during down season so not many revelers which was perfect. Music was not loud and you eventually block it out if it's not your thing.Written September 11, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- D CVancouver, Canada102 contributionsI stumbled across this place in the middle of a hot day, in the middle of the week, in the middle of low season, just to have a beer. I ended up visiting every day I was there, talked to the bartenders for hours at a time, along with my girlfriend who is a Mexican national, who also works as a bartender in a tourist town in Mexico, because the people there were excellent, and the prices were fantastic.
The people who worked there made both me and my girlfriend feel comfortable, so much so that it almost felt like they enjoyed our company as much as I and we enjoyed theirs. The people who were also patronizing the bar were also interesting and talkative, which made for some good stories from people from all around the world. My girlfriend also had a baked potato, of all things to choose from like delicious looking tacos, from a place right across from the bar, and it was a great option to have while drinking at Rips.
Thanks to Freddy, Hector and all the other great guys working there!Written November 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Ray SBrea, CA1,061 contributionsAlways a perfect stop for a drink on the way to somewhere else or to meet someone new. (When its this small you have talk to people!)
The place is about 8 feet wide and 10 feet long. Subtract 4 feet for the bar and back bar, and 2 feet for the boxes of beer on the opposite wall and you have 2 feet left for the six stools.
You can walk through the bar but it's a squeeze if the stools are in use.
Lots of tequila brands for shots. Beers too. Buy a T-shirt for $20 and you get a free shot. i have 5 shirts from past annual visits.
It's walking distance to the famous large bars and hot spots so you are always close to the tiny bar.
Woman bartender is always nice to talk to.Written June 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - victoria c1 contributionGreat service and atmosphere. The drinks and bar food are delicious. Our waitress Valeria was excellent! She even ordered an Uber for my sister and I. She went above and beyond to accommodate us. Overall a great place with a good vibe!Written October 14, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- WendiCAngleton, TX69 contributionsWe have to stop here every time we come to Cabo. We were really glad it survived Covid closures. The owner was there and super friendly. We looked for Wilbur the bartender that is usually there but he has moved on. We enjoyed handing out and drinking while watching people go by. I may be a tiny place but it is full of character and the drinks are reasonably priced. It’s right next to the Giggling Marlin and down from CW Cantina. It’s a must stop and have a drink place.Written September 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ray SBrea, CA1,061 contributionsDinner, last night in Cabo. We'd been here before.
Years ago I asked a US expat where all the US expats go to be among others. She said The Roadhouse. At the time, ten years ago, you had to know where to find it to find in. Just get on the Transpeninsular Highway frontage road going West. Pass COSTCO, pass the power station, and immediately turn right onto a unnamed semi dirt road. It will show up 1/2 way up the hill. There was no sign at the turn, there is now. Just the name and an arrow. You have to know what business they are in.
It's pure American (Caution: a bit racist, leans to the "right"). The initial attraction for the US expats was burgers, fries, US sports, beer, and a full bar.
Food is great. I had the catch of the day "pez del day" A huge serving of Sea Bass grilled perfect, baked potato, salad. $250 MX, $12.50 USD.
Everyone in my family including an 18 y/o and 8 y/o said it great too.
Others were just sitting alone at the bar looking at the ocean.
Place is full of signs, US state license plates, and fishing stuff.
I believe the founder, owner, Big Mike, passed a few months ago. There is much inside about his life. His quote "NO BAD DAYS" is everywhere.
Also got a T-shirt.Written June 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - John VSan Miguel de Allende, Mexico34 contributionsTruly one of the best dive bars in Cabo. It is a bit more of a "locals bar" than it is a tourist destination, and a bit off the beaten track. You could walk by it without noticing it is a very cool bar. You will find a lot of local people here -- many bartenders and wait staff who are off work and want to have their party time. But the bar staff are also super nice to tourists, of course. Great drinks. True, it is a dive bar, but the barkeeps know how to make proper drinks. And it is always fun... just ask for the "fire show"!
If you get lucky, Grecia will be behind the bar. She is hilarious and awesome and really knows how to mix delicious and strong drinks. Ask her to whip you up her special Old Fashioned -- you will not be disappointed!Written June 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - gaburlisonOceanside, CA639 contributionsThis is the best day time bar in Cabo. You will see some regulars there (Justin) and the bartender Hector. If you are old timer or a newbie hit this place up. Hector is very personable and just a plain good guy. The beers are cold and inexpensive. Pilar makes some great food as well. This bar is an every trip stop for me. So stop in and say hello to Hector and the staff. They also have bands at night time.Written June 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
