What an amazing hike through beautiful gardens, topiary, formal gardens, stone walkways and fountains were found throughout the island.

Stunning overlooks in all directions. I was able to see some of the Japanese islands in the far distance. Makes you realize how close Korea and Japan are to each other.

Steep pathways up and can be a hot so either bring water or plan on buy some while you are there …

Was one ice the best stops of our trip!

It is a sculpture made because of the heat from the typhoon cicadas, and it is a great place for individuals to make it alone. Great for walking around, great ocean view. It is 5-10 minutes away from the parking lot, and the viewer may be disappointed. It is a good place to stop by and see on the way by.

Windy Hill is a quaint little spot located at the top of, you guessed it, a hill. That affords it a beautiful view of the ocean below. We went in early March, and there was a very cold, strong wind. At the bottom of the hill are a few shops with Korean food and public restrooms.

Just across the windy hill, this place is really something. Good for taking photos and relaxation. This place is really good for groups and to those who want to get some fresh air.

This is an odd attraction. On the site of a Korean War prisoner of war camp they have constructed an amusement park aimed at kids with displays of old military equipment and memorials mixed into it. Still it is interesting. For an American, it is a little like visiting a set from the television series M.A.S.H. In particular there is a funicular ride ups to the top of a mountain overlooking the ocean with wonderful views of the surrounding islands. This is well worth doing. It is 30 minutes going up and 20 minutes coming down and you will likely spend more time on top than you think. Though an odd mixture of purposes, it certainly is a historical family outing.

I didn't expect much, but the botanical garden is much better than I thought. The course is well organized and well managed, so many trees are harmonized. There are points to take pictures here and there, and the staff is kind and in general a good atmosphere. There are many places to spend time, such as cafes, besides the dome.

A veey well kept and maintained trail. Be prepared for a climb as some sections of the trail are a steep climb especially upto the summit view point. It offers nice views out over the forrest and the nearby bay. If its raining best go with hiking boots as trainers will get a little muddy, also might be wise not to wear sunday dress but rather dress as if you were going to walk a forrest trail, July it was quite humid and we sweat a fair bit.
There is a very busy but good coffee shop before you enter the trail.
All in all a good couple hours visit for the family.

'Mongdol' means pebble, and Hakdong Mongdol Beach is comprised solely of black pebbles. When viewed from above it is said that the beach resembles a hawk, or 'hak,' hence the name Hakdong Mongdol. The black pebbles are a nice aesthetic. There was a cold wind in early March so we did not actually swim or sun on the beach.

2nd day of Christmas and the weather was fine. I decided to visit the peak of Geyerongsan. There were really several routes to follow in order to reach my destination but I chose the path next to Gyeryongsa temple (very close to POW camp/museum) for the ascent and the path ending next to Geoje Technical High School for the descent. All the paths have signs in order not to get lost but also frequently there are many other people following the same or similar routes. Although it looks easy looking from Gohyeon to the top, it is the typical demanding not very tall mountain of the southern Korean peninsula. This implies that the inclination is severe and there are areas that due to moisture or fallen pine needles and tree leaves are rendered slippery and dangerous, while it cannot be considered as an easy hiking, looking around and feeling relaxed. One should be always focused. Therefore, it is not recommended for 'climbing' during rainy or snowy days. Nevertheless, and although the peak has only 566m altitude, the view from the peak is very rewarding and once there you feel a sort -somehow- of achievement. From there, one can see several parts of the island of Geoje as well as a part from Geoga bridge and probably a small part of Busan. Provided that the weather is ok and all the members of the family are following willingly and without complains or a feeling very tired (asc./desc.) it is recommended for families. If you feel that you have sufficient time or you don't feel tired you should attempt to walk from peak to peak or along the ridge in order to reach even the peak of Seonjasan or the antennas.

When we came here the park was open but the tourist things were closed. You can still walk up to the top and see the monument which we did. The toilets are still open too (big fan of all the clean toilets in Korea). At this time as it was closed we parked outside the main entrance but it looks like had this not been the case that you could drive to the top.

It was really fun and amazing to see dolphins and beluga whale. The entrance fee is around 25,000 won which to me is quite cheap. They have other deals or packages such as swimming with dolphin or take a photo with the animals at a higher fee. The downside is that everything is in Korean. They also have a reptile and amphibian exhibition. I rented a car for my stay in Geoje and find it much easier travelling around especially since I was working there for a while. Have no idea about the public transportation. Also it was raining on that day but didn't affect the show.
