We had a great time at the Akumal Beach! While we did come at a very popular time, we didn’t feel too crowded and loved being able to see the turtles! only down side to us was that the gear we got was heavily used and damaged; my goggles were scratched up and hard to see out of at certain angles.
also to note, the water was pretty cold when we went aswell as when we booked online it said nothing about an additional fee but when we got there, i believe we paid $22 for a beach fee?? aswell as $5 for a locker rental but i did get my $5 back when i returned the key. definently worth the price but i don’t think we’d come to this specific spot again.

another cool note was all the murals when driving up! it looked like a cool little strip to walk down but potentially hustled.

Definitely a very unique beach, as the Mayans ruins overlook the entire beach. It wasn't possible to go on it though due to the newest covid restrictions.

Half Moon Bay beach was overall very good. We stayed in a condo right on the beach. There was a little bit of vegetation to step over occasionally and on one day the water was very cloudy until you got out farther. Overall it was pretty clear and the snorkeling was great, saw tons of fish, an octopus, a couple stingrays, sea urchins, etc. I would stay here again.

Very popular place during spring break, not just students. Much has changed and grown in the four years I've been away. Lots of bars! There are several guys to go snorkeling with. Prices seemed to hold steady, $20, or I got a deal because I was near the boat as they were loading up 8 others. Prepare to get splashed on rough or windy days. Wish we were allowed more time, maybe it was just are group?

First time staying in Tulum, and glad to have picked this perfect little boutique hotel by the beach. The staff made you feel welcome from the time you checked in to check out. There was one waiter that stood out the most and his name is Andrea Garcia he went out of his way to make sure me and my family were well taken care of while we were lounging by the beach. He even went out of his way to help me and my husband book a snorkeling tour to swim with the turtles. The food here was also good enough options to satisfy everyone’s pallet. If your planning your trip in the next couple months just be aware there is road work happening in this area and you will have to enter through the Mayan ruins to access this property. A fee will be charged but it’s not two expensive they charge only by how many people are in the vehicle. We are a family of 3 so only $12.00.

Visited Friday, July 24, 2020. Admission was 300 pesos per person. Towel and life jacket rentals are extra. Outside food and beverage did not seem to be allowed. Menu prices are quite expensive. Avoid the chicken nuggets. There is a 400 peso minimum spend on the covered beds. The beach was full of seaweed/sargassum but can still swim despite the local ban at the time. There seemed to be strong currents on the beach. The Caleta or Bay was perfect for swimming. See picture. The wifi is quite strong on the beach and high energy dance music was played all day. The cenote is small and bug spray is needed while walking to/from the site. Private transportation is highly suggested.

We were her on January 17 and 18. Good service and food. Beautiful beach.
My friend forgot her pouch on the sunbed when we left on the 17. When we came back the 18, Juan our waiter had found it and returned it to the lost and found.
The also found the Liverpool caps😊😊

I’ll give this 3 stars because it was part awesome and part horrific so that averages out to 3 stars. They got us with the boat tour and turtle snorkeling at the entrance to the tulum ruins, cost was $50 usd total for 2 people for entrance to the ruins, premium parking, and boat tour with snorkeling, so very reasonable price-wise. We visited in June when it is turtle nesting season so I will say one cool thing is we saw a TON of turtles, and they are very used to people and boats. They swam within just a foot or so of me. We went with Lupita tours who seemed fairly reputable, I guess, all things considered. The guide gave us two rules: wear a life jacket at all times and don’t touch the turtles, both extremely reasonable. But when we were out there snorkeling it was total chaos, so many people in the water and surrounded by sketchy boats. The worst part was that other companies did not make people wear life jackets and they were also feeding the turtles fish. Because of the fish, the turtles were swimming right up to us. But because the people from the other boats weren’t wearing life jackets, people were having to tread water, kicking their legs furiously, and I saw a turtle get kicked in the head. The people had also obviously not been instructed by their guide not to touch the turtles. It was honestly really, really sad. It felt like we were just harassing the poor turtles. It also just did not feel super safe, with the number of people and boats and sketchy operators around, I was a bit worried about getting shredded by a boat propellor at any time from someone not paying attention.

Our group of 6 had a great time!! We saw several turtles big and small. Our guide was excellent and made sure everyone in the group was able to see everything. We saw a big stingray too. We booked with BD Experiences and everything was wonderful.
