This place is great. We’ve been going here every 2-4 years since our honeymoon in 2005 and have brought our daughters (now 14, 11 & 8). This year, I saw the most fish, thanks to the super cool full-face scuba masks they make now - which xel-ha has upgraded to and include in your admission.
Heads up though - don’t make our good-natured mistake and leave them anywhere. We’ve done this before with the regular masks, hanging them with our vests after snorkeling while playing, etc. and had two swiped at the children’s area.
When we came clean and reported it to the locker room, they said we’d still need to pay $50 USD. I get it, but was disappointed. Sad that a place that is pretty expensive to attend would still have guests or staff who would steal other people’s masks, and sad that their rule could start a chain reaction of masks being stolen because no one wants to have to pay $25 if their mask gets swiped. After learning our lesson, we buckled them to our vests and wore them around the park or assigned someone to sit with them at an activity.
Hope our lesson can help someone else so wanted to write this review. Everything overall was pretty great - beautiful place and fun memories! The lazy river, bikes and Mayan cave were our favorite parts!
