- frankuk19215 contributionsIn general, almost all the beaches in this area are so fantastic and spectacular, facing the open sea and with fine sand.Written July 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hema KLeicester, UK19 contributionsIt was my husbands birthday, and he loves dolphins, so I had booked the Dolphin ride and splash with aquarium trek package for my family of 5.
First we were not given our wet suits, but then i told them that it states in the email that they included with the trek, so were then given to us. we did the dolphin interaction first, which was a good experience, however I felt sorry for the dolphins, wondering they must be getting tired doing the same things over and over so many times a day, especially posing for pictures!
Then we did the aquarium trek, which I wouldn't recommend . Too much time was just wasted clicking pics by the 2 divers instead of letting us enjoy the fish. This tank is very small and its better to enjoy the fish from outside.
Now, the photos were shown to us at the end, which were no doubt very nice but we were quoted $250! Now, we jokingly asked if we an get any further discount but the photographer got rude with us, he was like you paid for the experience didnt you? then why cant you pay for the photos!! and we were like exactly! we paid over $550 for the experience and now you want us to spare $250! his behavior put us off else we would have considered to buy the pictures
anyway i think the ethical way to offer pictures would be to tell us before they start clicking that this would be the charge , so we can opt for it or opt out. that would not only save our time but also ,minimize stress to the dolphins. or they should make set packages.Written August 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Ok to go for a few hours. There is a small OXO convenience store right at the entrance next to KoKo Bongo so can get a drink or anything you need without having to carry it all.
Sargazo could be better but hey! It’s Cancun so everywhere else is the same during season.
Afternoons after 2pm more people goes to the beach so if you want a quite place, find some else, but mornings is not packed with people and it’s not too far from town.

- Christian S17 contributionsXcacel, for snorkeling, near Tulum
I’ve snorkeled at most of the places they say have good snorkeling from shore in the Riviera Maya. Most of them are greatly lacking in fish, and the fish there aren’t that interesting. Xcacel is the best of them all. I didn’t see anything unique, but there was a decent variety of fish. This place was at least worth going out.
I read that you should go early because they limit the number of people. We were at the gate at 10:00, when they are supposed to open. Someone opened the gate at 10:15. The entry fee was $7 USD each. We were the first ones to the beach. When we got out from our snorkel an hour later, there were like 12 people on the beach.
It was a short, well maintained, dirt road in to the parking lot. It was about 1/3 of a mile walk in from lot to the beach, down a narrow, jungle path. There were some mosquitoes, but we were not swarmed like many other places. The beach would be really pretty, with it’s white sand backed by greenery, but there is a lot of seaweed on the sand, and there is a lot of wood covering the green.
Supposed to snorkel on the left side, where there is protection from a barrier reef. Out by the reef, the current was strong and waves were breaking over the barrier reef. So if you are not a strong snorkeler, you might feel nervous. I read that the best snorkeling was along the barrier reef. There was the most coral there. The best fish were actually in shallower water around scattered coral heads, straight off the beach, where beach turns to rocks.Written July 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GeostaticSudbury, Canada60 contributionsOn occasion when visiting a beautiful resort currently under renovation and expanding a couple can have a medical need for a Doctor.
We were not aware of an established clinic housed in the main building with three Drs to share the weekly shifts.
Dr Willy Ortiz was a young very bright very caring and knowledgeable.
The time he spent helping my wife diagnose and treat was unlike any experience we have ever had in the Canadian or American healthcare community.
