- Marlenelisch1953Chesterfield, MO219 contributionsGreg was oue driver. He had grown up in St Kitts and knew so much. It was a beautful tour and the beach we went to at the end of the tour was beautiful.Written May 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - summer2meFort Lauderdale, FL65 contributionsWe decided to meander around the cruise port of St. Kitts on the last stop of our 7-day cruise. While walking, a couple highly recommended stopping by Palms Court Gardens. We were in total awe when we arrived. It's in walking distance of the port, nestled on a hillside and surrounded by a beautiful zen garden with swings and a small playground. We met the owner who was simply amazing. We were in awe with every step that we took further onto the property. There is a small gift shop with various types of jewelry and ornaments handmade by the owner. They were exquisite!
The most amazing part of this property was the picturesque view from the outdoor pool which towered above the street overlooking the entire port and docked cruise ships. There were benches and lush trees throughout the garden, a poolside bar and a restaurant serving delectable entrees. We spent approximately 2 hours there enjoying the view, shopping, dining and relaxing by the pool. You can get a day pass for the pool for $20 per day (subject to change) or simply donating $1 to enjoy the garden.
This was the best part of our stop in St. Kitts as we opted not to do an excursion. I highly recommend stopping by this hidden gem to enjoy a small piece of what this beautiful island has to offer, thanks to the creativity and vision of the amazing owner!!Written May 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Sunbeds & umbrellas are available as well as food & drink.Written January 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This serene church has a heartfelt message for the public - “Our mission is simply to make Jesus known and loved.”Written March 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B1714DBelgrade, Serbia16,866 contributionsIndependence square is in the very center of Basseterre. It's a nice place to cool down in tree shades after the capital exploration.
The middle of the square is adorned with a nice fountain while on the eastern side is the Immaculate Conception Cathedral which is worth visiting.Written February 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It reminds on a similar clock in Victoria, Seychelles. You don't need to go out of your way to see it, as while exploring Basseterre you're for sure to pass by it or drive around it.
It's very picturesque with interesting houses around it.Written February 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The website quoted $150 EC (East Caribbean $) for a small car & driver, plus $20 EC for each additional passenger.
AFTER our car was loaded (at the very back of the ferry), the guy collected the fares. It was $250 EC TOTAL. When we told him his website said $170 for the 2 of us + our small car, he said that the website was from 18 years ago!! ARE YOU KIDDING!??! When we asked why the site wasn't updated, he just shrugged his shoulders.
This was NOT a good experience.
This isn't the only time we encountered INCORRECT prices in St. Kitts. It seemed to happen a lot to us & we got the feeling that if you looked like tourists, they quoted you whatever price they wanted regardless of the prices posted!
I got in the habit really quickly of asking everywhere:
1) is the price in EC or USD?
2) are taxes extra? Most of the time they were included.
The taxi ride from the airport was only 6 minutes but cost us $60 EC! which is about $30 CAD (Canadian). At the banks, the rate of exchange for USD was consistent the 2 weeks I was there. I got $2.67 or $2.70 EC for 1 USD. They don't take CAD there in stores, restaurants, etc. only EC or USD.Written March 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Toussaint was great in every aspect. He grew up on the island so he knows all the great spots. One day we wanted to do a private 2-3 hour tour of “scenic areas” around St. Kitts and Toussaint gave us exactly what we were looking for. He even accompanied us to walk around and answered all our questions and showed us books and crannys of each place we visited. He was always prompt and so knowledgeable about all things St. Kitts.
If you’re planning a trip to this beautiful country, you have to use Tatem’s taxi & tours.Written May 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He took us to Romney Manor, Brimstone Hill Fortress, Timothy Hill and Carambola Beach Club. His story was very informative and interesting. It would not have been possible to see the island closely without him. I would highly recommend him without any hesitation. St. Kitts is really beautiful and I rate it at the top of the 5 islands we visited during the cruise. I think exploring the island with Chris was the best way to enjoy and know about the island. Thank you so much, Chris!Written January 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sophie M1 contributionWe had a great island tour of St. Kitts and a wonderful time with Bobby!
We spent two weeks cruising the Caribbean. We decided to take a tour with Bobby because of the many excellent reviews we read on Tripadvisor. We are more than happy we chose this tour because it was even better than described in the reviews!
Bobby is very funny, trustworthy, kindhearted and extremely knowledgeable about his home culture and land. The communication via Whatsapp before the trip was excellent. We met Bobby at the cruise terminal and he was waiting for us exactly where he said he would meet us . We drove around the island in his air-conditioned van, exploring the country and its people. Bobby drove us to different places and showed us beautiful viewpoints. He told us a lot about the history and politics of St. Kitts and taught us about the animals and plants of the island. It was very interesting to listen to him and we had a lot of fun talking to him.
It was definitely one of the best days of our cruise. We would highly recommend Island Escape Taxi and Tours to anyone who wants to explore the island with the best driver of St. Kitts!
Can't wait to meet you again Bobby and thank you for everything!Written April 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We requested a tour covering Timothy Hill, Basseterre, Wingfield Estates, Romney Manor and the UNESCO World Heritage site Brimstone Hill Fortress. The tour took just over 4 hours but we wanted to pack in as much as possible.
Highly recommended.Written March 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. (A local Easter tradition), and learned about the history. - RawrcwwawMurfreesboro, TN2 contributionsMr. Johnson was an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable about St. Kitts and Nevis and the surrounding islands. He took us to the most beautiful sites on the island. Allowed us to take all the time we wanted to tour the sites and take photographs. Mr. Johnson, upon our request, recommended several restaurants and those restaurants served the best food we had. He arranged for our transportation to and from the water taxi and travel on Nevis. We highly recommend Mr. Johnson's VIP Transport Services.Written May 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BobbyHighlands Ranch, CO2 contributionsIncredible snorkeling with Jermaine, nephew of Mr. Thenford Gray, and over 100 minutes in the water between Ruffles Beach and just north of Christophe Harbor on the south end of Saint Kitts in the Caribbean Sea. We started the day with a scenic drive from the cruiseship dock, stopping atop an overlook of the Atlantic Ocean meeting the Caribbean Sea, purchased a Coke from a local vendor and drank in the breathtaking views. We continue to two more overlooks of the Caribbean Sea before descending to our beach. Jermaine lead us into the water, he dove down retrieving a starfish we handled, before moving onto a shipwreck from 1752 with two canons. We continued onto another shipwreck from the 20th century and found an octopus under a rock. We moved on spoting many colorful fish, gray rays, eagle rays, lobster, an octopus in a conch shell, barracuda, flounder and crabs. We left the beach famished and Jermaine suggested lunch at the Shipwreck Beach Bar (food and drink separate). The fish tacos were amazing, great drinks, many locals eating lunch, snorkeling off the bar and local monkeys. Total time over six hours and half the cruise ship tour price. Will do it again on our next visitWritten January 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
