- Elizabeth d1 contributionSome parts of this beach are nicer than others—beach in front of gran ventana much nicer than in front of Wyndham. A whole bunch of hotels are on this strip and some are shut down which is odd.Written December 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Melissa McCallBrooklyn, NY7 contributionsGreat beach but very crowded and it wasn't that clean and we were expecting it to be much cleaner, but we enjoyed the couple of hours we spent there with sun bathing.Written February 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kfhn33Rapid City, SD36 contributionsQuiet stretch of beach, not too developed and no crowds of beach vendors either. It's a little scruffy compared to some others I've visited in D.R. but overall very pleasant. Ample amount of eating and drinking places but very quiet at night. If you're into clubbing on vacation you'll have to take a cab to Puerto Plata. A word of advice, vacant lots and areas are all heavily overgrown here so lots more mosquitos and flies than any other beach area I've visited in D.R..Also,The orientation of the coast line here means no nice sunsets to enjoy,at least in January when I visitedWritten February 21, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BackfromVacayToronto, Canada196 contributionsJose is the best tour guide in Puerto Plata. He engaged with our 8yr old son and our 6 yr old daughter immediately and included them in our custom built tour. He turned our unplanned day into Puerto Plata into the best stopover of all seven stops from our cruise ship stops. His vehicle is very comfortable and we had ample room with my husband up front with Jose and myself and the two kids with generous room in the back. He proposed a family adventure at Telefonico (Cable car ride and rainforest) which was exceptional! He took care of everything. I appreciated how he helped us to manage our time. He allowed me to go ahead and join the very long line while he and my husband grabbed our tickets. This made a lot of sense as we were able to get on the cable soon enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery before the mist set in. He guided us through the rain forest and surprised my little girl with an adventure at the turtle pond. We would not have found this pond on our own! Then we head of to see more and more and more. Shopping at the best spots and visiting the chocolate factory. I did not want to spend time at the factory, but my son did. So we took at vote and he sided with my son, so off we went to the choc factory and we all had a wonderful time. My son appreciated that very much! Jose is very in tune with families and he makes sure everyone is happy. He managed our time and even though we thought we were not able to do more, he still made a short stop at the fort, where me learned more about the culture and had some amazing photographs taken. All in all this was way more value than we had originally imagined and we were extremely pleased with the professional service, thoughtfulness and genuine support that Jose provided. We are looking forward to seeing him very soon!Written February 12, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
