- mrtlc67Port Charlotte, FL122 contributionsLooks so big and impressive online, in reality tour while by tip of guide so no entry fees only about 15 minutes at best. It does have good information, but overall it is an Amber and Laramar gift shop with a good story. Something to do if you are already in Puerto Plata, but stay at your resort rather than making trip here.Written September 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Frank NDallas, TX326 contributions1/21/24: My wife booked this tour for me, since I like rum. I found the tour to be very educational and entertaining. The video was pretty good, and the hostess was engaging. I enjoyed visiting the store before and after the tour. The rum sampling and displays areas were pretty cool. I ended up buying four bottles of rum, and was happy that I was able to sample three of them.Written March 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cenztOhio22,005 contributionsGood trip. We arrived at approximately 12 pm and made our way inside the museum. After paying the admission fee, we were met by a tour guide who proceeded to give us a tour of the museum. The tour guide took us from room to room, while giving us a history lesson on one of the national hero’s in the Dominican Republic- General Gregorio Luperon. There were multiple artifacts out for display, and the tour guide was quite knowledgeable about the history of each item. The tour guide was able to answer all of the questions that we had.
Tip: I recommend spending 30 minutes here if you truly want to see everything.Written June 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jlantern3Columbia, SC13,066 contributionsFree stop that takes you through a few rooms about Amber in the country. English and Spanish signs. The insects in the amber were neat to look at The dinosaur exhibit set up to cash in on Jurassic Park fame. Walking through a fake cave tunnel was kind of neat too. The other sections were where they tried to show cigar making, jewelry making and wine drinks- all the time trying to sell you stuff. Worth a quick stop along the downtown walking areaWritten January 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
