- RawledawgBound Brook, NJ86 contributionsMy last night in the DR I had one of the resort workers take me out on the town. The first place was Kviar. Impressive place. Gambling on one side, nightclub on the other. Its opened until 4am from what I heard. Hope I get the chance to come back here again.Written September 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CD A39 contributionsWe had excellent hamburgers here for lunch. If you sit on the wood deck across from the main terrace it is nice, but the music is way too loud. One afternoon we had a beer, and they hadn't turned on the music. It was much nicer. We are staying here at the Marina but haven't gone back because of the extremely loud music.Written May 5, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Leslie E3 contributionsBest place so far in puerto plata! Amazing food and super friendly service. I had the pork medallions and husband had ravioli. Both were delicious. Came with potatoes and green salad. Ate every bite!!! We'll be coming back for sure.Written June 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RyanLindsay, Canada24 contributionsNice Canadian owner of this bar had game 7 advertised for Leaf's Bruin's game. Great cab driver we met took us to Puerto Plata, we asked for a stop on the board walk for a beer, then to see the old Fortress that was once there, wanted to see and stop at a grocery store. He did everything we asked for $20 American plus a tip. Short 2 hour trip for little money and you dont wast a day.Written April 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marilyn CMiami Beach, FL37 contributionsWe went to Ice with a few locals. The club was super packed and the music was great. The neighborhood outside was a bit scary. If you are hoping to dance bachata or typical Dominican merengue this isn't the place to be. 90% regaetton and 10% Spanish rap. Not bad but I would not go back. If you are from Miami... Ice was Nothing like Club Tipico Dominicano, unfortunately.Written August 16, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 48Gee2Hamilton, Canada10 contributionsI was here in December with my BFF. What a party! Loved the music, everyone very friendly...danced til they shut for the night. If you're bored of the hotel disco, get out and experience Dominican style!!Written March 2, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Canada613Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic1 contributionMany people bicker about whether sitting at a casetta is worth the extra cost or not. While I can understand both sides of the argument, the answer simply comes down to personal needs. My needs? I am a traveler who needs Internet access to check emails and be able to do so in a comfortable atmosphere and great views. Vena Beach bar offered that. What I got out of it in the long run was an added bonus.
I walked into Vena Beach Bar and was warmly greeted by Tiffany, the owner from New York. She sat us down, gave us a bowl of nuts and asked what type of music we prefer to listen to. For any and all who have walked down the malecon in Puerto Plata, one understands how rare this is. I found Tiff had a great variety of the 80's thru to recent hits, ranging in all genres of music. Latin, English and a great mix of both.
I ordered a few drinks that day, and they were all exquisite. The service was impeccable and the music to die for. The view is amazing on the Atlantic coast and lovely beach to walk along should u desire and the food is just the right portion.
Another day, while i was walking by, i noticed Vena beach Bar to have karaoke, lol, what fun that was. And what I love the most about Vena, is that everyone knows your name, and friends are easily made.
If you are looking for a relaxing place , to just sit and listen to some tunes, and have a cold one or a few cocktails, you definitively don't wanna miss out on VENA BEACH BAR !!Written July 11, 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
