What travelers are saying
- LuizDutraNetoRio de Janeiro, RJ8,621 contributionsWhile visiting "Altos de Chavón", you cannot miss "The Art Gallery". A small gallery exhibiting paintings, photographies, drawings, sculptures and crafts by international and Dominican artists, even including works by the local students of the "Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design". A quick visit and an opportunity to buy works of future famous artists, encouraging and rewarding their efforts toward their future careers. Enjoy!Written September 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I purchased my first Leo Diaz several months ago and still wonder how the painting draws my attention each time I walk by it, even many months later. His gallery is probably the top one in Sosua, at least of all the ones lining up the street that leads to Sosua beach.Written August 11, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A2CoxGarmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany95 contributionsI had a few minutes to kill, so went for a stroll and was fortunate in where my feet took me. A small but wonderful gallery with a dance studio above...the art being displayed by university students were quite impressive. If they were for sale, I would have purchased any one of the 20-something works of art. This is not unbelievable if you have seen street art throughout the country. Make a point of checking this place out.Written October 10, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- pia HDominican Republic5 contributionsIn a tiny aria described by locals as “ mini zona colonial “ we found a few small cafes and a small street that we believe to get alive at night time ( we where told in weekends ) we passed a few times to find the gallery open - and finally managed to get access - to this tiny gallery with few small rooms and a bigger back garden/ yard ( empty when we where there ) the expo apparently change often - and we found the expo well slightly disappointing… though we very much appreciated a few of the arts on display …( see pic ) if you in the neighborhood pop by at evening time as very likely a “ young funky evening place to visit - but daytime well little quite….Written February 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlexMolierRoissy-en-Brie, France302 contributionsThe Arawak art gallery mainly showcases contemporary art and is a rather small museum located on Calle Rafael Augusto Sanchez 53. - SingeliChicago, Illinois44 contributionsIf you enjoy art, we found many galleries featuring various types of art in the Dominican Republic. Galeria de Arte Ajoupa was a favorite in Santo Domingo. The gallery features well-known Haitian painters in various styles, all vibrant and exciting. It is well worth a look while you are enjoying a stroll in the zona colonial. We left with three paintings, beautiful and excellent values, and wished we could've carried more home. The owner, a well-known painter himself, and his family were interesting and welcoming. Marie Flore St. Felix, the manager, was very helpful.Written January 24, 2011This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
