There are many America's first things in SD.
Calle Las Damas is namely the first paved street in the new world, where Maria de Toledo (Diego Columbus wife) used to stroll with her friends.
The street starts from Plaza de Espana (main sq by the Alcazar) running all the way down to Malecon passing by many historic edifices.

I was looking for unique fashion and accessories but much to my surprise the store is no longer there, there’s a beauty salon instead with the same name. I don’t understand why its still listed here.

The house of the Currency ( Casa de La Moneda) with a door surrounded by five sculpted medallions in the early Renaissance style is a museum and a great place to visit. The house was constructed in 1540 and the house was used to fabricate coins (currency used in the the colonial times.
