Went with one of the boats January last year (7 days) and the diving was fantastic BUT unfortunately I also had a bad experience
The boat I was on had small cabins for 2 and I was sharing with a very good diver from Switzerland (whom I did’t know before). We were told that for security reasons we were not allowed to lock the cabins but that they had never had any problems so to leave stuff was totally safe.
Well it wasn’t...Call me stupid but I left quite a bit of cash on a “locked wallet” in a locked photo bag and when I left the boat....most (but not all-they were smart) was gone.
I was quite disappointed with the reaction from the diving company who basically yawned.
I had supposed they would be very upset with this information but that wasn’t the case and it all left me with bad taste in my mouth...
So go for the diving but be very very careful bringing any valuables to the boats....they are NOT safe even if you lock it up

Went for a day out, there was no where to purchase drinks, the only thing we could purchase was Guava juice.

We visited the beautiful Parque Natural Montemar, which was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2001. It is located in Zapata peninsula,
It’s a large area of salt pans, t’s a large area of salt pans, marshes and mangroves with many crocodiles.
It’s a paradise for birdwatching! and a good spot for catch-and-release fishing!

Beautiful beach. Have a lovely stroll, then a sit down for a few beers to enjoy the view and people watch.

Absolutely stunning beach. Long, walkable and crystal clear water. Gorgeous sunsets. Can't wait to return!

It was a delight to once again meet Paulino to explore the birding world of Cayo Coco (last time was 15 years ago!). He met us at the resort equipped with scope and Vortex binos for those without them, and we spent an enjoyable half day tracking down most of the birds that we wanted to see. His 1955 Belair can comfortably hold 5 visitors with backpacks etc. The easiest way to connect with him is through Watsapp. Given the times, we all wore masks and drove with the windows open, so everyone felt comfortably safe. Paulino is very personable, and speaks English well so we enjoyed his company as much as we enjoyed the exploring.

We left with a group at 11 and I made two dives. One dive at 25 mtrs and 1 dive at 15-20 mtrs. The instructors were professional. The only downside was that I did not really see something interesting. Maybe another side next time?!

We’ve visited here several times with friends and family who have come to visit us. The guided tour is typically a group of at least 10 people depending on the season and time of day, but we’d definitely recommend springing for the small entry fee for the tour. It’s very interesting and we always have found that the guides are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. (Tip your guides!) I believe there’s now a 3D mini cinema for those not interested in going down into the caves.

They’ve recently remodeled so the bar/restaurant area has improved quite a lot. We haven’t eaten there since the renovations though.
