Steep but short trek up to the fort. Would definitely recommend trainers / hiking shoes for the climb up, and to avoid if it’s particularly windy or raining. There is a rope set up (as pictured) to help you on your way up.

Once you get up there, the 360 degree views are well worth the climb.

The fort itself has pretty much been abandoned, and there is no info provided once you get up there, so if you’re interested in the history, do your own research beforehand or afterwards. You can find the basic information online.

The beach is totally awesome. It is an easy walk. closest beach to St. Johns. Awesome views. Mostly quiet. beach not flooded with visitors like a lot of other beaches. The Fort has great views but is run down. A bit of history and great beach in one. Restaurants also available. and Beach chairs and umbrellas available.

My wife and I visited both Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay and preferred the latter being more authentic and less commercial than Heritage Quay. The Quay was a former slave compound and has become the premier shopping district on the island with a range of small independent stores and restaurants. Worth a visit.

Visited Saint John's Cathedral and was amazed by the beautiful carpentry inside. The woodwork is impressive and to me looks like the interior of an old sailing ship. Worth a walk to and around to see this restored wooden interior.

Slightly north of the St Johns Cruise Port. The Quay includes duty free shops, jewellery outlets, fashion boutiques, and souvenir stores. There's also lots of cafes and restaurants among the many shops along the pedestrian-friendly throughway.

I had arranged to watch the 4th day of the second test between West Indies and England at the 'newish' Sir Viv Richards Stadium, St John's when my cruise visited Antigua. However, our 'talented' England Team decided to have a couple of off days and the game was done in 3 days.

I decided to kill time and visit the old Recreation Ground which hosted it's last test in 2009. This was the scene of amongst other things, world record breaking innings by Brian Lara of 375 and then 400, also many tests were played here after 1978 with all of the famous stars on show.

I managed to enter the ground via an open gate, the venue was looking at best neglected although the stands and score board (with trees growing in front) were still in place the same as when used for cricket. A football pitch was laid out across the middle of the ground, apparently no cricket is played there anymore which isn't surprising as the once hallowed turf was appearing distinctly rough.

I then come across a very interesting local gentleman called Claud who has a hand in maintaining the ground and who has loving maintained an honours board in one of the stands which displays all test innings over 100 and 5 wicket hauls achieved on the ground. It turned out he is actually and England supporter and lovingly follows Manchester United. He recited his rather long full name which included Old Trafford and other famous English players both football and cricket, Claud was a really interesting character who gave some really interesting stories about the ground and made the visit well worth the effort for any nostalgic cricket lovers..

The park is dedicated to the first president of Antigua and Barbuda and sits on the road near the Market of town. The park needs to have some work done to do repairs but it still shows the love the people have for this man.

Attended Mass here by mistake but unfortgatable experience. Had planned to go to St. Francis of Assisi but closed as everyone at Cathederal for new Bishop's installation. Building is impressive but music, service, congregation participation just out of this world. Attended by Gov. Gen., Prime Minister, and Cabinet. Counted 9 other Bishops involved. A memory of Antigua we will always treasure.

Take swimwear and a towels along. It can rain or once on the Atlantic side of the island it can be choppy and windy. In all it was super fun. Great crew. Lots of drinks. I will do it again.

Parham is in interesting place, with new houses on the outskirts and very down-at-heel buildings on the way to the harbour. On the harbour you can see the mangroves edging the bay and a local told us that in the last war the US carved channels into the mangroves to shield their subs from enemy view and the locals still use them to protect their boats when a hurricane comes along.

There are a couple of bars but we were there early morning before they were open.

Definitely also go into the church - the roof is amazing! There is a box in the wall inside the entrance for donations as they are trying to do some maintenance.

On our visit to the lovely island of Antigua my wife and I arranged a bespoke island tour and St John's was one of the many places our guide stopped at to show us.
The memorial is located close to the cruise terminal with it's gift shops and jewellery stores for duty free shopping. It was erected late in the 19th century to commemorates the work of Bishop George Westerby to celebrate his work for the Moravian Church.

This monument on the outskirts of St John’s commemorates the ringleader of a failed slave rebellion in Antigua in 1736. It has a series of plaques around its base, which tell the story of the uprising and its horrific ending. Prince Klaas was executed by being broken on the wheel, a form of crucifixion. This site is well worth a visit and there is also an exhibition of artefacts and documents relating to the rebellion in the nearby Antigua and Barbuda Museum.

Our walking tour of St Johns took us to this war memorial and I didn’t have a clue that many men from this area died during the 1st World War. Some of them were mere youngsters.Thank you.

One for the die hard Viv Richards fans. This 'national hero' has a bust to commemorate the significant contribution he made to Cricket. It's on the road named in his honour too. Follow it up with a visit to the Antigua Recreation Ground
