We enjoyed riding an electric scooter around the island. Hope it could maintain its small island charm without overdevelopment

The Pescadores is a Portuguese name meaning 'Fishermen's Islands.' Occupation of the islands changed hands many times over the centuries. At the end of World War II, the islands passed into the possession of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The ROC spent a lot of money improving the life of the islanders, including constructing the Trans-Oceanic Bridge connecting the main islands. The Bridge is 2,500 metres (1.5 miles) long. It's the longest bridge I've ever been on!

Constructed over 300 years ago during the Ming Dynasty, the Tianhou Temple is the oldest Matzu temple in all of Taiwan. The simplistic facade radiates traditional Chinese architecture. It's the focal point of old downtown in Magong & you can take a stroll through the oldest alley on the island which is directly beside the temple.

Guanyin is a Buddhist deity, she is the Goddess of Mercy. She is the main God worshipped at this temple. The temple is quite picturesque. Because a God is not directly worshipped in the Buddhist pantheon does not exclude him from worship in this temple. By the way, Buddhists are tolerant and they usually don't mind visitors having a look around.

This place is very close to my village. Since I was a kid, my father took me to here every summer vacation, we have many wonderful memory here. The beach consists of sand and coral and the road under the sea consists of basalt. When the tide falling, the road comes out and people can walk to the island which is opposite to the beach. The environment is very great, the water is so clean that there are many sea creature live in here, like crab, conch, starfish and small fish. At first, this place is not very famous there are few tourists, the beach is good to relax but I think it is too crowded now.

Penghu, Siyu Township! A preserved Village

Often we find that the old must make way for the new, especially painful how we lost much in Singapore over the years! But once in a while we find that some places get preserved in history by governments taking the right action!

Take Siyu township for example! This quaint little village located on the island of Penghu gives a true insight what life has been in the past before the modernisation process has eliminated it from the planet Earth!

Totally worth a visit, try to avoid the Tourist season as it must be super packed based on the villagers residents! One walks through history and. Breathes in the amazing environment!

    Fun to observe and partake!
    Enjoy this little pictorial !

    Highly recommended!

Strolling the narrow alleys of this traditional village is like going back in time. Old school oriental architecture intermingled with island accessories really makes the residence unique. Many of the homes have used sea stones, shells and old artifacts as materials for the walls and fences. Many residence still live there & some even sell products they manufacture (almond tea & incense).**some of the stone art was outstanding!

The heart shaped weir is a structure for pre-historic people to catch fish. One the plane trip into Makung, look out the window and you will see many submerged weirs. This weir is special because it is twin hearts.

You have to ake a boat to Cimei to see this. It is an all day boat ride+tour that goes to 4 different island. The ride can be long and bumpy and barfy (nausea causing).

If you have time, walk down to the weir. I did not know I can walk down until it was time to go.

This is one of the oldest military village in the town & Taiwan. Few places are open for business & two famous but died singers’ memorial old houses provide some information about them. Fifteen units have been turned into housetel. Some places are colorful and good for photo taking. It is not bad to walk around. Look forward seeing it can come up with more in the village business & better arrangement.

This is the ONLY Harbour that offers to-fro sea routes from CHAI YI/ MAGONG and MAGONG/ KAOHSIUNG. There are few choices for the type of boats travelling CHAI YI/ MAGONG and vice versa. The services are quite Good but limited frequency, Only one trip each way per day. The frequency MAGONG/ KAOHSIUNG trip is worse, and take about 4-5 hours each way. The harbour is well maintained and the TWO BEST Hotels are just there. There is a Big shopping Mall and the DUTY FREE SHOP is within the Mall. Some small eateries inside the Mall,BUT Prices high compared to near by restaurants! Good place for walking around during a Hot day, as the aircon is good; Reckon it will be good during WINTER, the heating likely to be good as well.

We stopped here on part of a tour. It was nice to get off the bus and look around. It was a cloudy, rainy day but it was still fairly clear and the scenery was nice. Not much to do there but take a picture and move along.

This is a must see on Wang An, a mix of houses that have been restored and houses that have been left on touched. An ideal way to discover how life was on the island until only recently.
