- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,466 contributionsPenghu Isands are in the Taiwan Strait, off the west coast of Taiwan. The 90 islands in this archipelago are mainly made of sand, many of them are very small. The Portuguese call these islands "the Pescadores" or fishermen's islands. Among the sights to see are the Trans-Oceanic Bridge and the well-known Twin Heart Stone Weir. There is a profusion of temples. The Pescadores can be reached by plane or ferry from Taiwan.Written October 21, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - chiayijaneTexas23 contributionsWe enjoyed riding an electric scooter around the island. - Gary Young1 contributionThis place is very close to my village. Since I was a kid, my father took me to here every summer vacation, we have many wonderful memory here. The beach consists of sand and coral and the road under the sea consists of basalt. When the tide falling, the road comes out and people can walk to the island which is opposite to the beach. The environment is very great, the water is so clean that there are many sea creature live in here, like crab, conch, starfish and small fish. At first, this place is not very famous there are few tourists, the beach is good to relax but I think it is too crowded now.Written May 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,466 contributionsThe Pescadores is a Portuguese name meaning 'Fishermen's Islands.' Occupation of the islands changed hands many times over the centuries. At the end of World War II, the islands passed into the possession of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The ROC spent a lot of money improving the life of the islanders, including constructing the Trans-Oceanic Bridge connecting the main islands. The Bridge is 2,500 metres (1.5 miles) long. It's the longest bridge I've ever been on!Written September 29, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TrMarek970 contributionsConstructed over 300 years ago during the Ming Dynasty, the Tianhou Temple is the oldest Matzu temple in all of Taiwan. The simplistic facade radiates traditional Chinese architecture. It's the focal point of old downtown in Magong & you can take a stroll through the oldest alley on the island which is directly beside the temple.Written March 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KB CIllinois744 contributionsUnlike some of the rocky and coral beaches this one has real sand and calm waters. Not too busy and beautiful clouds and sunsets. Perfect for easy swimming.Written July 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeffry bEssendon, Australia12,466 contributionsGuanyin is a Buddhist deity, she is the Goddess of Mercy. She is the main God worshipped at this temple. The temple is quite picturesque. Because a God is not directly worshipped in the Buddhist pantheon does not exclude him from worship in this temple. By the way, Buddhists are tolerant and they usually don't mind visitors having a look around.Written January 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter A. KnippSingapore, Singapore85 contributionsPenghu, Siyu Township! A preserved Village
Often we find that the old must make way for the new, especially painful how we lost much in Singapore over the years! But once in a while we find that some places get preserved in history by governments taking the right action!
Take Siyu township for example! This quaint little village located on the island of Penghu gives a true insight what life has been in the past before the modernisation process has eliminated it from the planet Earth!
Totally worth a visit, try to avoid the Tourist season as it must be super packed based on the villagers residents! One walks through history and. Breathes in the amazing environment!
Fun to observe and partake!
Enjoy this little pictorial !
Highly recommended!

Old school oriental architecture intermingled with island accessories really makes the residence unique. Many of the homes have used sea stones, shells and old artifacts as materials for the walls and fences. Many residence still live there & some even sell products they manufacture (almond tea & incense).**some of the stone art was outstanding!Written March 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ping LTimaru880 contributionsThis attraction wouldn't mean anything for overseas visitors. Yu-Sheng is an accomplished singer then turned producer whose life was cut dramatically short after he died in a car accident due to alcohol. This memorial museum is located inside his old residence where his parents used to reside. The information here was rather insightful and well laid out, and none were done in English, which once again limited its appeal to overseas visitors. For the die hard fan of his, you would get to learn about his humble beginning, his journey to become the star that he eventually became.Written January 12, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jmseightLos Angeles, CA44 contributionsThe heart shaped weir is a structure for pre-historic people to catch fish. One the plane trip into Makung, look out the window and you will see many submerged weirs. This weir is special because it is twin hearts.
You have to ake a boat to Cimei to see this. It is an all day boat ride+tour that goes to 4 different island. The ride can be long and bumpy and barfy (nausea causing).
If you have time, walk down to the weir. I did not know I can walk down until it was time to go.

Few places are open for business & two famous but died singers’ memorial old houses provide some information about them. Fifteen units have been turned into housetel. Some places are colorful and good for photo taking. It is not bad to walk around. Look forward seeing it can come up with more in the village business & better arrangement.
Written February 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can see the power of nature and the one and only piled up rocks because of the eruption of volcano many years ago. Though Penghu doesn’t have lots of special scenery. But this is the must go place in Penghu. 是一個絕對需要造訪的地方,可以看出過去大自然透過火山噴發造出的自然層層堆疊的六角石塊,澎湖最著名也是最值得的地方。Written September 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - stargate2Singapore, Singapore30 contributionsLocated in Xiyu township. There is a nice walking path where you can stroll slowly and enjoy the beautiful coastal. It take some effort to climb up the hill though. Down the hills there are some small shops selling local foods. The park is free and so is the car park :) you can see more pic on my site at vincenttravelblog wordpress comWritten March 29, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
