... we planned our hike with a bit of care -- we arrived early at the trailhead, before the crowds so we could easily get parking and take our time up the trail, stopping every so often to rest and enjoy the scenery.
This is a popular, fairly strenuous hike that is mostly steps, but it is lots of fun, has great views from the top, and is a good stair workout!

Yolan is a very knowledgable and enthusiastic guide - always happy to share bits of knowledge about the history of climbing, the history of the park, gear, etc. and very generous with his time.
... you’re new to climbing or you’re an experienced climber looking for a guide or just some fine tuning to your skills, Stone Adventures is the place to go! Can’t wait to go back out there with them!

I'd call this a short, compact trail with medium strenuous moments - there's a pretty decent incline or two that lasts 5-10 minutes depending on how in shape you are (do u even lift, bro?), but the entire trail is...
The terrain is significantly different than what you'll find at most other JTNP hikes - more hills and sharp dark rocks, rather than flats and rounded granite boulders.

The hike was light and fun, and the kids loved running around the sand, the rocks, and they loved the Yucca plants.
Every time we go to Joshua tree national Park we always go to Split rock to take photographs and watch the sun go down. .

In 2015 & 2017 Erik prepared me for my two ascents of El Capitan in Yosemite by tailoring several days of big wall climbing that sharpened my awareness of safe, efficient big wall techniques.
Erik did a wonderful job balancing the abilities and stamina of two youngsters (12 and 14) and a 47 year old :) on two days of super fun climbing.

Andy is the best guide, very knowledgable, great teacher about climbing, the gear and the area.
(It helped that we were staying in Black Rock Campground that has great cell service...) Jim and Kyle were our guides and they made us feel that safety was their primary concern throughout the session.

Steve was an excellent instructor and provided sound guidance to us as we were all unexperienced climbers.

We made it to the mill where I looked down the hill and saw the old cars from others reviews (which were really cool to check out!) and a well marked trail.

They found a wonderful spot in the park, set up our gear and ropes before we arrived and worked tirelessly all day to make sure everyone in our group had an outstanding climbing experience.
Ryan did an awesome job of choosing a variety of climbs from multi-pitches to bouldering problems, and in various areas of the park, to cater to our various climbing interests.

Also, the trail can be a little subtle, so keep an eye on the rocks, especially when it is time to turn up towards the mid point oasis.
Do bring lots of water.

I would love to be able to spend more like 3-5 days exploring and camping.
JT is so beautiful but if you venture off the highway you'll be rewarded with awesome scenery, peace and quiet not enjoyed in the sometimes very busy, touristy parts of the park.

This trail branches off of the Boy Scout Trail, off of the Park Drive trailhead, which is about 10 miles or so from the park's West entrance gate.
You start on Boy Scout Trail and then follow the sign for Willow Hole.
