What travelers are saying
- ScribblingGeekSingapore620 contributionsDotomobori is the most entertainment district of downtown Osaka, its lights, sighboards, and sounds perhaps more famous than even Osaka and Universal Studios Japan.
What can I say? You’ll find it incredibly tourisy and for most part, crowded, noisy, and if you visit in the evening, messy too. But you’d still want to come here to soak in the ambience and perhaps have a meal. Have some patience and you’ll perhaps enjoy a wonderful evening here too.Written October 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,444 contributionsPopular walkway along the Dotombori River. Very crowded at night, but lots of diversions in the way of food and drink. Also, the area from which to get the Tombori River Cruise boats.Written April 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Stretching for miles, the area is teeming with stores, full-service restaurants, and eateries offering quick bites.
As you stroll along the picturesque riverfront, boats sail back and forth, providing passengers with a unique perspective of Osaka from the water. While it's easy to spend half a day exploring Dontonbori, I highly recommend returning at night when the area truly comes alive with a vibrant, electric atmosphere that exudes a completely different vibe.
Among the countless shops and eateries, be sure to check out Kani Doraku for it's crab dishes, the 10 Yen Bread (with choice of cheese or custard), and Mooken for puff pastries! They were a standout during my visit!
