We went here with my folks who were visiting and it really dies have some great views. My parents are really into painting so did some of the landscapes. They’re currently building another place so I guess there’ll be even more reason to go in the future

Coming back to Hiroshima from Osaka at the beginning of Golden Week here in Japan I wanted to go somewhere nice, but not so crowded and since we had never been to Awaji we decided to give it a shot. The place has a little bit of everything. You can pay 500 yen for parking and bring your picnic lunch and enjoy a nice day in their beautiful garden. For a little extra they have a botanical garden and park. You can also go fishing just across the way at Tsubasa Harbor. You can also stay at the Westin Awaji that is on site. Nice place to relax and enjoy some peaceful time with the family.

It took us some time yo get there. The telephone provided in the official map led us to no place. We eventually getting there via Goggle. A huge area with lots of parking space. The park cost some money to get in, many kids entering there for fun but not us. We took a look on the gift shop and go straight for lunch. Nice environment with many seats. Ordered curry which was Japanese style. Another chicken set was fine. We enjoyed our meal before going down to the shops for local food. Worth a visit if you got time in this island, Awaji.

How does a tourist information center get such high marks?

When it is located right on the tip of Awaji Island, looking across the water to Shikoku island. Where you can at the right time of day, see the Naruto Whirlpools.

The tourist information center is not that big. However, it is packed with products that are local to Awaji Island. So you get onions, onion soup, onion dressing, dried onions, fried onions, freeze-dried onions, onions and wasabi, onions in sauce, onions in oil ....... the list is seemingly endless.

There are nice viewing areas and pay telescopes to see the whirlpools.

Of note, if the main parking lot is full, there is a secondary, overflow parking lot about a kilometer away. Shuttle busses every 5 minutes. Parking lot attendants will inform you well in advance that the main parking lot is full.

Said to be the first island that the ancient gods made when building Japan, this island has many shrines and a famous rock with a heart shape in the middle, where people come to wish for happiness and love. Beautiful and tranquil, only 10 minutes on a shuttle ship. Hidden jem. Check "hiddenjapanguide.com" for more information.

I absolutely loved the 90 minutes I walked there. I did it the last day of my trip. I wished I did the first day so I would go every morning as I was staying in Westin near by.

We drove from Somoto where we stayed. Upon arrival, two carpark were available. Maybe it was Sunday, some ceremonial event tajen place. We strolled along the side entrance since we parked our car further apart in the second carpark. Anyhow, we went back to the main entrance for picture before we left for lunch opposite the street. It was a quiet place and spacious. Trees around plus some scenic views. There was a famous tree symbolize a couple and had been grown for over 900 years. We took many pictures and enjoyed the lovely scene.

Accessible but transformative - urban centers in visible close proximity- but you are quickly transported to nature

Well designed and easy going with breadth of different amenities - including tasteful restaurants and of course shopping for omiyage

When we stayed in Nishinomiya during new year holidays we traveled to Awaji island to have a look Naruto strait and “Ottamanegi” where members of Arashi - one of most popular TV stars have visited, because my daughter is a big fan of them.

It’s easy to get there in case no traffic jam since we go through most of the route on highway, around 1.5 hours by car. Then, after reached to the facility on top of the mountain, wonderful view awaits you. Bit foggy view on the day seems like black & white paint.

Fans of Arashi wear free brown wig what members of Arashi have had to shoot photos with many of onion shape chairs which are put in there.

This is a natural 'power spot' as they like to say in Japanese. You can feel the power and beauty of nature.
I went by car and the falls are a two minute walk from the car park. The path is concreted with a handrail and steps. You can also walk up to a small shrine after the fall, and if you keep going up, all the way to a reservoir and dam up the valley.

This "michi-no-eki" road station equipped with shops, casual restaurants, parks and boat boarding area. Shops have so many souvenirs and you can't be bored when you wait for cruise ship.
