What travelers are saying
- David TMelbourne, Australia85 contributionsWe love visiting this viewpoint. We always hire motorbikes and take a ride through Kata and up the hill to the viewpoint. There is a nice cafe on the way up the hill on the left that serves cakes, coffees and shakes. Z
Often at the viewpoint you can pay to have amazing photos holding a white falcon, and you can see amazing views of the beaches along the coast towards Kata and Karon. Great photo point on a clear day.Written April 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Michael RRawai, Thailand27 contributionsImagine a tropical beach. DUH! gentle beach break. No rocks. Spectacular sunsets. Amenities are there, but low profile.Written May 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Off their PManchester, UK3,263 contributionsWe were on the other side of the hill so this beach was quite a hot, steep walk but it was worth it – just! It has a lot going for it with beautiful sand and fairly calm seas.
It can get busy but you can usually find a bit of shade somewhere out of the way and enjoy the gentle breeze. There are sun loungers for hire with umbrellas which is good and lots of traders to sell you just about anything you want.
There are some water sports as well so if you feel more Energetic you can do this.Written March 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Singapore Family Pete and SamanthaSingapore, Singapore2 contributionsHad a great time with family. Highly recommended and worth the try. Specially for non surfers. Good food as well.Written May 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- amandaaustin2018Romford, UK98 contributionsI visited the market while on a trip with five other family members. From an eleven year old to 50+. It was quite a way out of town from Kata where we were staying but worth the visit. There are some lovely temple buildings with lots of locals and local activities. There was a stage with dancing groups including a local school performing with lovely Thai music.
The market stalls themselves were selling the same things you find everywhere else, fake goods, beach wear, souvenirs etc but there are lots of stalls to choose from. There are quite a lot of food and drink options all selling nice Thai food lots of which is made while you watch. Lovely fresh fruit smoothies too at very reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Unlike some Thai night markets there is no alcohol allowed at the temple market.
There are plenty of other shops and restaurants in the area too.Written February 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - John KCosta Mesa, CA1,218 contributionsI stayed at Karon beach for seven nights. The beach itself is really long, at least 3km. Plenty of space to spread out, but lifeguards are only stationed at a few areas. Beware of swimming outside of the watched areas, as rip currents are common. Red flags were out for most or all of at least 4 of the days I was here. The town area itself is not large, a pretty easy walk from one end to the other, walking along the sea. Many hotels for all budgets here. Restaurants were pretty predictably similar, which was a disappointment for me, but if you are here for seafood, you will get your fill. Just very little real Thai food available. Search the back streets for a som tam or pad thai cart, if you want some cheaper food choices. Rented a quality 125cc motorbike for 200b, about as cheap as it gets. Many massage shops around, along with a handful of beer bars. Laundry is 50b per kilo, or there are a few self service machines scattered around town.Written March 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- K&M rates platesSidcup, UK886 contributionsSeafood market with lots of seating and lots of stalls selling seafood and meats. Very nice food cooked in front of you. It’s very busy and hard work getting a table but there’s lots of selection of fresh foods which are deliciousWritten February 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Chris TAlice Springs, Australia93 contributionsQuite a large park right on the beachfront and very well done in a place where greed for tourists means there is little beachfront left. A memorial to the tsunami victims of 2004.Written February 18, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kaushik GMumbai, India4,068 contributionsWe had visited this small temple dedicated to Lord Buddha during our sightseeing in Phuket. This temple is located close to Karon Beach and also known as Wat Karon. We liked the beautiful architecture of temple and the peaceful ambiance inside it. This place is worth a visit when you are visiting Karon Beach.Written December 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Ovidiana CRomania700 contributionsI recomand you to visit it.
But be informed that once you get there, you must get to the beach just with your own moto( and is difficult), or you will find some cars ( 300 bath per person go and back from beach, so if you are 4 persons, it will be 1200 bath just to get to the beach)
The rude ,thai bad thing is that is no written anywhere , nothing, so you must ask some thai people or your first driver who will get you here( up, the normal driver taxi will not get you to the beach, is impossible)
If you get to the beach, you will find a small, idilic beach, small restaurant with a nice front sea view, thai bad services etc
On the beach there are a lot of profi/ high/ on the hill places for taking profi, excelent photos, so for making beautifull couples of families foto is the best beach!!
Really, inform a little bit, and spend a day here. You will enjoy it!Written January 12, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Glenn R19 contributionsOk shopping and there were renovations when I visited last.
Plenty of clothes and a vape shop if you need one?Written October 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Pop RBangkok, Thailand156 contributionsNot only Leam Promtap is the place to see sunset, but Leam krating is one of the exotic place too. There is some difficulty of getting there because the trial is difficult to walk. First you must climb all the rock and after that there will be a trial but difficult to walk on the grass. Must be prepare for the climbing shoes and water to drink. The path to get there is near the Krating resort, you need to park along the street because the resort not allow the pedestrian to park the car in their property. Timing of getting to the point is 45 mins of walking. Might need to prepare the torch for getting back after the sunset.Written December 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
