- Dreamer35240781067Athens, Greece14 contributionsExcellent beach but when there is a breeze the air becomes tiring. A few trees at the back of the beach for shade, a tavern, a beach bar. Perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with white sand and emerald waters.Written August 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - queenlilibetiiLondon, UK97 contributionsA truly beautiful beach, with crystal clear waters and golden shores! This beach is renowned for kite surfing and windsurfing. You can enjoy a very nice sunset at the end of the day... Great place to relax and unwind.Written February 26, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Happywa5578London81 contributionsThis is the small mountain immediately behind Mikra Vigla. If, like me, you get up early one morning and fancy a stroll, here is what you can do.
Note: this is a rough mountain scramble without paths. You should take water, a first aid kit and a phone and tell someone where you are going. I didn't do any of these things but if you fall and break your leg, you'll be glad you did :).
Getting onto the mountain is a bit tricky as it is surrounded by metal fences which seem to enclose patches of land that people have bought, half built on and abandoned, which is a shame for the attractive holiday houses which overlook half finished concrete shells.
I walked up the road leading out of MV towards the mountain, took a track on the left and followed it up towards the highest two or three houses. At the point where it turns into a drive leading to the last house (hidden round the back), keep going and after a few yards a small path leads across a ditch and over the fence onto the mountainside.
The paths seem mostly to contour round the mountain and keep petering out so I just scrambled up. It is a pleasant mildly challenging scramble similar to a Lakeland fell, except that the ground is covered in several types of thorn bush, so you soon learn to place your feet carefully.
From the Westerly summit (nearest the sea), you get stunning views across the Naxos coast and over to Paros. I think you can even just see Milos in the distance. The main summit to the East has a concrete marker dated 1955, and splendid views across the whole island including Naxos town and the mountains to the East.
Scrambling down is harder than scrambling up so I tried to walk off down a track, across a gentle slope heading to some houses to the South East. However the track petered out and after trying a couple of others I ended coming off a steep but manageable slope on the south west face more or less directly above MV. It led out through a farmyard onto the road leading back to the beach.
Note: take extra care scrambling down, and if crossing any dry stone walls. Most rocks are very solid but some are note and the walls need care. Dislodging rocks could easily cause you to slip and fall.
This is a lovely walk and enjoyable scramble. You could have a great picnic on top. Go early as it gets hot - I left at 6 and was back by 8.

- Lio5555Geneva, Switzerland9 contributionsGreat center, very well run. The instructors are very good, and the progress is steady and valuable. They care a lot about safety, they spend a lot of time making sure you have the right equipment. After one week I could kite but for sure I will come back to take more lessons. My daughter and I both enjoyed it a lot.Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
