The gardens are beautiful on a summers day - they’re only open 2pm-5pm however they don’t kick you out at 5! The house tour is really worth it, it’s £8 for an adult for the tour and gardens which is reasonable.
There are lawns, arbors, water features, pergolas, sun dials and gazebos all arranged to please the eye with the hansome mansion as the perfect backdrop.

Lots of activities like the Blitz experience, Jeep rides and volunteers to share their knowledge (many are in authentic soldier uniforms with weapons!).
My daughter loved trying on costumes and going in the air raid shelters: The volunteers are extremely knowledgeable.

A most enjoyable visit
I would advise you to go all round the place first, then get yourself a coffee whilst your little one tries the bouncy castle out.

The garden is split into a number of small intimate terrace style areas and planted with many of the plants and herbs referred to by Milton ,in Paradise Lost and other works .
Would recommend others for newbies as well as for aficionados.
