- niraj s1 contributionI went along with my friends for a day trip outside of Medellin. This was a perfect day trip we could have asked for as it covered all expects of the vacation. We experienced the countryside,culture, cuisines and colors and in the picturesque town.
We also hiked the Guatape rock and the views were amazing at the top!
On the tour I got introduced to many eccentric tropical fruits which I had never tasted before. Totally in awe of the experience and would highly recommend it!
Andres was our tour guide and he was simply amazing.He walked us through the town and ensured we covered all the prominent spots a tourist would want to cover! He was friendly and witty. - IanShanghai, China21 contributionsI had a fantastic private tour of El Peñol and Guatape with Carlos! Carlos knows all the ins and outs of the area and can cater the tour to what you like. We were able to have great local coffee, snacks and food. 10/10 would recommend going with Carlos.

We had a two-day excursion with Luis venturing to different places. Luis is fluent in ENGLISH and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Medellin, and all of Colombia. At the beginning of the two-day tour, we took a city tour of Medellin to learn more about the many diverse surrounding areas. Then visited the local community of COMUNA 13 with stunning graffiti art and street food. Also, visited the Pable Escobar memorial honoring the endless number of victims who lost their lives during his time.
Moreover, climbed the iconic Peñol de Guatapé (Rock of Guatapé) and explored various areas of Guatape. In addition, visited a petting zoo and coffee farm in EL PENOL, ANTIOQUIA with other stops along the way...
Luis was an absolute great guide! He was professional, timely, courteous, historically knowledgeable and street smart. The beauty of the region speaks for itself, however, without him, we would’ve never understood or appreciated the history and significance of what we were seeing. Throughout our travels, we have never met someone so knowledgeable and kind. Hector was a great start to our trip in Colombia and will undoubtedly remain the best part of our trip.

On the day of our tour, both main roads were closed to Guatape, but Daniel was diligent on finding a way to the town. Many of the locals were unaware of the closure to the roads to Guatape. We took the back roads, a bit bumpy, but without Daniel's resourcefulness, we wouldn't have made it to Guatape. - MattAtlanta, GA20 contributionsJuan Carlos was an excellent guide. We never felt rushed and got to see more than just the touristic areas. The tour company was really communicative and flexible about the start time. We managed to stay ahead of the crowds at El Peñón and Guatape. A good portion of the tour is driving through some beautiful areas and Juan Carlos was an engaging history-teller along the way and made the time pass quickly. The food and snacks along the way were delicious. We really enjoyed seeing El Retiro which isn’t a spot on any other tour that I researched. Felipe was an outstanding guide who made our trip unforgettable! He took us to the breathtaking Guatapé Rock, the colorful Guatapé Plaza, and the historic Pablo Escobar mansion, all while sharing fascinating insights about the area.
Felipe also introduced us to delicious local food, explaining the cultural significance behind each dish, which added so much to our experience. His friendly personality, enthusiasm, and attention to detail made the day feel special and effortless.
If you’re visiting Medellín, a tour with Felipe is a must. He’s knowledgeable, professional, and truly passionate about showcasing his country. Our family of 4 enjoyed the whole day with Erika educating us about the history of Guatape, the Penol and was in constant touch with the Paragliding team to make sure the weather was ok for us to paraglide and she made sure all of us were comfortable and stopped when needed for breaks. Our day with Gabriel was nothing short of extraordinary! He picked us up right on time at our hotel, and his punctuality set the tone for a perfectly organized day. Gabriel's sweet and helpful nature made the entire experience feel seamless and enjoyable.
He took us to magical places, each more breathtaking than the last. The highlight was definitely the Peñol Rock, which was absolutely out of this world. Climbing it was an adventure in itself, rewarded by the stunning views from the top.
Gabriel didn't stop there—he arranged a helicopter ride that gave us a bird's-eye view of the stunning landscape, and a boat ride that let us experience the beauty of the area from the water. Both experiences were simply amazing.
Gabriel's knowledge, kindness, and meticulous attention to detail made this a day to remember.
