The structure of the tour surprised us and sone of the bigger wineries should learn from MDR.
This was a fantastic winery tour and highly recommended It does all depend on timing and we lucked out with the day - small group and awesome guide

Bodegas Valdelana

Of course, the tour ends with a wine tasting ... of three different wines, all produced by the family using grapes from their local vineyards.
Don’t miss this winery if you are in Elciego
Bodegas Tritium Cenicero, Spain 2.8 mi away
#1 of 4 Food & Drink in Cenicero
I think the other reviews on here some up this fascinating bodega perfectly, there are literally 100’s of wineries in the region but Tritium has to go on your itinerary.
It was a really charming touch compared to the larger wineries we had seen in Logroño!
Bodegas Valentin Pascual Cenicero, Spain 2.6 mi away
#2 of 4 Food & Drink in Cenicero
Having toured a number of wineries in La Rioja, this visit really stood out.
My husband and I got to tour the Bodegas Valentin Pascual winery and caves with Jose during our honeymoon, and we loved learning about the way wine was traditionally made.
Bodega Casa Primicia Laguardia 3.1 mi away

I also learned that they are one of the few wineries that are able to grow cabarnet suvignon in their vine yards and have a few signature wines that blend this variety into them.
Mikel spoke very passionately about the history of the building, the winery's own philosophy and the Casa Primicia wines...it was a highlight of Rioja region winery visits.

The winery tour was excellent, Elena was a very knowledgeable of the wine and the traditional Rioja wine making process.

My daughter is living in Logroño for a year and had a tour with Felipe at Faustina winery, so she arranged to have him meet us at Campillo (one of the wineries in the same group).
This meant we could enjoy the pristine nature of this gorgeous bodega in a stunningly designed winery in the centre of the vineyards.

Bodega El Fabulista Laguardia 3.1 mi away
#5 of 17 Food & Drink in Laguardia
I learned more about how wine is made (and the history of wine making) from this one hour tour than any of my other travels (although admittedly, I have only been to two different wineries before this).
The winery is so beautiful and historic, and the wines are top notch while also very affordable.

We started with a tour in the caves where companies can store wines followed by a tour in the winery, some wine tasting and after that we had lunch.
Bodega Torre de Ona Laguardia 3.3 mi away
#8 of 17 Food & Drink in Laguardia
Our guide, Izaksun, was very knowledgable about soils, climate, vineyard practices, and winemaking (all things to geek out over!), and her English was very easily understood.
What sets this apart from the other bodegas in Laguardia is that the tour starts out in the vineyard, so one gets a full perspective of the flow from vine to wine.

After visiting hundreds of wineries in my lifetime I can say without a doubt that the entrance to the facility is one of the most impressive I have ever seen.

Bodegas Carlos San Pedro Perez de Vinaspre Laguardia 3.1 mi away

We toured several wineries in the Rioja region and this by far was our favorite!
Go visit Carlos and his family winery, products are of high quality, artesanal wine, full of flavor and aroma, Carlos gives a detailed explanation and he is available for questions, La Guardia is a beautiful place...
Bodegas Ysios Laguardia 3.9 mi away

We've visited vineyards / wineries all over the world but Ysios is in a different league!
We did a tour of the winery followed by a tasting, both were very interesting and highly informative.

I would definitely recommend this tour as it is very different to the vast scale wineries we also visited.
Maria gave an informative yet very relaxed private tour of the family winery followed by a sample of our choice of wines.

I think this is much different/unique when compared to the more modern wineries because you can see how much heart/soul the family puts into the wines they produce.
We spent an hour in the vineyard with a formidable, fresh homemade lunch under the trees followed by another hour (and some extra time) in the winery, including a generous wine tasting.

Bodegas Campo Viejo Logrono, Spain 7.6 mi away

The fact that they are so modern in design is unique to this region and very cool to see compared to the many other wineries and tours we did in this trip.
We would recommend this as a fascinating contrast to some of the smaller scale vineyards, especially as they seemed to have retained the human touch and were so obviously proud of their operation.
