We did not actually visit the Fort as it is closed on Monday. However it is quite formidable even from a distance.
We have been told that British Prisoners of War there actually managed to escape. Amazing!!
The Forti de Gavi is high above the town but it’s remarkable silhouette stands out from far away marking one’s arrival to Gavi.
A certain landmark and one to enjoy without the necessity of a visit to the site.
Would have given the fifth star if we had managed the visit.

Surprising, Charming, Warm and friendly. Just go! Small town with narrow street and lovely architecture.

Check out this church when you are in Gabi. Takes about 5min with the car and you get to see the beautiful landscape of Gavi from above :)

A little bit of the road you can find this wine house. Three sisters starting a business beginning of 2000. And they made it, they make great but somehow specific Gavi wines. The host is marvelous and tells you the story of the wines with a lot of passion. If you like great wines for reasonable prices and a little bit different of what you expect from the traditional Gavi wine : do not hesitate and go over there .

We booked a visit last minute and were kindly received by Bruno Broglia (!!). However, he was in a hurry and we not even looked around. He sat us on the tasting table, poored 4 wines and that was it. 20 minutes. Place is beautiful and I'd recommend the family to offer a tour around. Nice wines, ok prices.

    Absolutely beautiful experience in Gavi.
We decided to do the experience of truffle hunting in Gavi and it was the right call cause not only we had lot of fun, but we had the chance to know everything about Piedmont truffles. The guys explained us everything very clearly and the dogs were very well trained. I suggest to combine this experience with truffle based lunch/dinner as we did.

We stopped in the square for an afternoon ice cream. It was fresh, great selection and very tasty. There's also a bar for a coffee.

We participated to a day tour in Val Borbera organized by Bike 'n Wine. It was simply amazing from the weather to the scenic route and the e-bikes.
It was my first time having a wine tasting in a vineyard right where the wine you are tasting is produced. Ezio Poggio the owner of the winery explained us how they cultivate the grape and told us about the harvest parties that they have each year right in the same vineyard where we where...they still hand-pick the grape to get the best quality wine possible.
I recommend this way to explore the territory and this tour to everyone.

If you get the reference of the title then you will want to be at the Gavi version of Rick's of Casablanca. Oh, it doesn't look like Rick's at all, but the feel, the vibe, is Rick's. And everyone in Gavi comes here at some point during the day or night. This cafe/bar (they don't really have food to speak of other than snacks, so it's really a bar) sits on the corner off of the main square/piazza (Dante) in this over-looked town not far from the wild designer outlet mall in Serravalle. If you want to be a temporary local, this place is it for you (both Gavi and the cafe). Grab an outdoor seat and have a wine or a beer or a spritz, eat their snacks and watch as people go by, wave to patrons, stroll in and smack the proprietor (big dude hanging around the doorway with his mates) on the back, and watch the world. The crowd spills onto the streets from the patio in the evening and no one cares. I'd spend the whole day enjoying this, practicing Italian (it's Gavi, not many English speakers here), and being a part of the fun. The town itself, from across the river looking toward the fort on the hill, actually resembles Salzburg if you squint. But with a more work-a-day feel. Lots of little treasures here along the couple of streets (be sure to read the signs identifying the buildings and their ages).
