This tour is extremely educational and offers an experience that is truly interactive as you can hold, pet and feed the iguanas during the visit.
The sanctuary is small and the tour 45 minutes but it was quite simply one of the most relaxed and fun experiences in San Ignacio.

One of the joys of this excursion was just getting to the pyramid, which in our case involved the long bus ride from the port at Belize City all the way across the width of Belize to practically the Guatemala border.
I went without an organised tour guide but there is a small museum on site with information about Xunantunich including some of the legends surrounding the place.

They are knowledgeable and shared great information with us about the history of cocoa within the Mayan culture.
