Good walk around the lighthouse, empty beach by the time I visited in April when it was pretty windy. Some shops, restaurants around.

Furari is one of the most popular road station among the 8 stations in Minami-Boso City and more than 500,000 people visit this place yearly in the recent years. In fact, 8 is the largest number of road stations in one city in Japan.
“Furari” is unique that it could be accessed by both the highway and the local road. On the first floor, they sell local fish and vegetables whereas on the second floor there are restaurants and a food corner as well as the tourist information office. The restaurant “Aminaya” is one of the most popular restaurants in that area which mainly serves fresh fish and sushi.

A good stop-by before you head back for Tokyo

Biwa Club is the first and most prominent Michi-no-eki roadside station in Minamiboso, Tomiura-cho, Chiba. Inside the unusual shaped building is a service corner, a restaurant, and a souvenir shop. Tomiura area is known for it's large biwa or loquat, so never leave without trying their famous biwa ice-cream, juice or tea, and biwa curry. They also have a beautiful large garden surrounding a canal like a pond, as well as the gorgeous cafē with an open terrace. If you are interested in arts, everybody is welcome to participate on a craft class like making a Japanese fan or preserved flowers. This place is close to seven eleven, 100 yen shop, and a public bath is just across. I suggest you should visit between January and May and you’ll be just in time for strawberry picking. We really enjoyed our golden week vacation here. Looking forward for another great experience at Minamiboso.

This is one of the 8 road stations located in Minami-Boso City. It is with a large grass garden located near the sea and quite suitable for families with small children. It has some good seafood restaurants and souveneirs.
They organize special events occassionally which includes renting the Mario-Kart go-kart for driving along the seashore. You can dress up in costumes and take pictures. This event will take place on November 27, 2016.

During the peak season, I find the camp to be quite busy, however, if you can get here during early spring or outside of the Japanese camping season you're in for a treat. The campsite is only about 600 Yen per night.

The location is beautiful. There are walking tracks all over the peninsula taking you to quiet beaches and rocks, big lawns and viewing platforms. The sunset towards Mt. Fuji on a clear day is amazing.
I am a New Zealander and this place is as close as Japan gets to home in my view.

If you're not camping it's a great place for a walk or a picnic. During the summer the small beach is good for swimming. The water is very clear. Parking is free here.

Cons: The camp facilities are a little rustic and the toilets are Japanese style and there is an abundance of bugs. Also, I've noticed more wild cats scavenging around recently.

Michinoekis, or stations on road, in general are bad ideas for any tourism except the minimal needs such as bath room stop and urgent rehydration. This one is no exception. And it is located in the middle of no where.

Nemoto beach is really two (or three) beaches in a delta (triangle) shape with beautiful sand and views of Oshima island and Mount Fuji. In the summer there is camping on the beach and lifeguards are on duty. It is about 30 minutes south of Tateyama station at the southern tip of Chiba prefecture. The nearest town for shopping is Awa Shirahama about ten minutes away (in Minamiboso). There are also several cheap lodges near the beach such as Genji and Jungle Palace There is a good video showing Nemoto Beach on YouTube if you search for Life is Beautiful Nemoto Beach http://youtu.be/qHxAklSNcfQ.
