We relied on public transportation this trip. And it's a bus trip and a 1km walk to the abbey. The interior is fascinating and the Riesling they sell on site is first-rate. If traveling by car, this is an easy must-visit in the Rheingau.

Hope this is in time. Yes. If the monastery is open, the wine shop/tasting room is ALSO open. When we visited the poured wine until after closing hours while we waited for a taxi to take us back to Eltville.
