We wish we'd planned twice as long here... we were still enjoying ourselves when closing time came! If you've been to other open-air museums, such as Old World Wisconsin, Colonial Williamsburg, or Hessenpark by Frankfurt, you'll have some idea what this is like. It's fascinating for adults who have an interest in old ways of life, and kids have fun... More

LVR open air museum in Kommern located approximately 20 km or 20 minutes away from RCI timeshare Resort-Gemuender Frienpark Salzberg. This is where we can see an old Germany village and experience how people lived and worked in the Rhineland. We explored the museum landscape including farms, mills, workshops, shops, school, post office, church, windmill and etc. It's really fun... More

This is a wonderful place to visit. Houses from the Rhineland have been rebuilt in a fantastic setting, including an indoor Museum. Lots of hands on activities for children especially in the school holidays between July and September. We live close by and never get tired of visiting.

Everything is very interesting and the houses are really in a fantastic view. Low cost entry and a good shop for local things.

As an English visitor to what is essentially a museum of German houses this was remarkably interesting and well worth a day to wander round. It gave perspective on the area and it was fascinating to discover how late into the 20th Century some of these were occupied. Of great worth was the guidebook (English version), without which you would... More

http://www.wir-rheinlaender.lvr.de This part of the open air museum is housed in the exhibiotion halls of the "Museumsplatz ausstellungen" and ist that great that we would like to visit again and again. Vivid real life size wax figurines which seem to come to life. The exhibition "wirrheinländer" creates an identity for a better understanding of their origins and teaches Rhenish population... More
