About
Established in 2003, Elephant Hill is located within a stone’s throw of the Pacific Ocean on the idyllic Te Awanga coast of Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island. The winemaking at Elephant Hill is driven by tradition while not losing sight of what innovation can bring to the blend. Our aim is to make wines that are balanced and elegant and a true expression of the vineyards they come from. Attention to detail, hard work and an absolute commitment to quality are the hallmarks of both our viticulture and winemaking.

Fantastic wine experience. We were expertly guided by Tom through their delicious wines with a beautiful view over their vines. Highly recommend making a booking to taste their wines and enjoy their spot in Te Awanga

Our visit in mid march happened while the COVID-19 virus was just becoming a concern in New Zealand, we were able to do a tasting and observing proper spacing we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the winery. I look forward to seeing this wine get distributed in the United States - I would happily seek future bottles of their pinot gris and pinot noir. To all the lovely people at the winery, Thank you to the staff at Elephant Hill for a memorable day in the Hawks Bay region and I hope everyone stays safe out there.

We thought Elephant Hill is just famous for its view and posts by instagram celebrities, but we were wrong.
The whole wine tasting experience was enjoyable. The staff was professional and knowledgeable.
We love all their Chardonnay that are so characteristic, complex and layers of notes.
The red was nice too but not our favourite.

The view was beautiful too.

Book ahead.
Highly recommended.

Average, the platers where so overpriced it wasn't funny,
$100 for a platter for 4 people and i left absolutely starving.
The platter could have been purchased at any local supermarket for $20,
And wholst i can appreciate that this is a winery and you need to make a profit if you can't de pip your olives or offer more than 8 slices of crostini for $25 a head then you should close your doors,
The wine tasting was $20 per person which consisted of 4 wines from the menu, however all 4 wines combined did not reach the plimsol line of a wine glass and when a glass of wine was around $15-$18 a glass how you can justify you're wine tasting prices is completely beyond me!!!!
To sum up i would put this afternoon down to extreme dissatisfaction and i would not recommend this experience to anyone.
You should actually be ashamed of yourselves.
I am sorry but a beautiful location simply does not justify you for charging exorbitant prices for inferior food.

Service was great, wine poured was inequitable, platter provided was assured enough for three mmmm no... arrived with five slices of thin dry bread, pea shoots wilted and turning yellow and very predictable selection of produce all in all pour value for $46. Will we be back no.... discussed our disappointment on leaving

Enjoyed our short time here. Stayed about an hour which was a good time to soak the place in.

Came with a few friends and booked prior to arriving. Perks of this is that we had a reserved table in the sun which was gorgeous. Recommend booking beforehand.

They provided some sun hats with lotion which was a nice touch. The setting is quite a bougie one but beautiful decor and views of the open vineyard!

The testing was 5 diff wines which we enjoyed. Loved the Rose and Pinot noir, that I ended up buying the bottles after. Staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable.

We didn’t get a platter as we were only after drinks. Testing was only $20 and wine glasses after that were decent wine prices as well. Happy with our experience. :)

We walked in and the staff were very accommodating and very knowledgeable. It is a lovely atmosphere with views of the vineyards as well as the ocean. Very relaxed and great service. The wines are fantastic, particularly on the high end. The visit was very enjoyable and makes you want to buy more of their wines.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience in Elephant Hill today - we did a walk-in wine tasting and were looked after by the wonderful Michael. Michael personalised our tasting to suit our usual preferences and was very knowledgeable about both the wines and the history of the vineyard. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will highly recommend this vineyard to anyone visiting Hawke’s Bay

Very nice estate near the coast, surrounded by their vines. Very nice architecture. Welcome was not very friendly, restaurant/tasting room manager was not very welcoming. Our tasting staff however compensated the cool welcome with lots of friendliness and competent guidance. The wines are very good, however quite pricey. The ordered snacks were excellent. Worth going there.

Our tasting experience here was the very best of our travels in New Zealand. Not only did we find several wines to take home with us, but the pacing, information, and service (including a couple extra wines added to compare to ones we were enjoying) were excellent. Highly recommend!
