In this place Nature is everywhere. You fell out of civilization's noise. When you go trough narrow paths above you arises red and blue rocks and aside of you river and forest. There are several half ruined monasteries and castle in reservoir territory.

Khosrov Forest State Reserve is one of the richest with biodiversity nature reserves in the temperate zone of the Earth. The reserve is a real natural treasure in the heart of Republic of Armenia. Covering only about 23.5 thousand ha, Khosrov Forest is a home for more than the half of the flora of Armenia (more than 3500 species) and about 1/3 of the wealth of the Caucasus flora (about 6000 species). The big range of mountainous ecosystems are habitats of 283 species of vertebrates, including highly endangered Caucasian leopard, Bezoar goat, Black vulture, Caspian snowcock, Armenian viper etc. It is a unique opportunity to make a tour in the reserve and find a lot of new things about which you may be even didn’t hear before.

In May I plan a 2 day stay in Garni to visit Garni Temple, Geghard Monastery, and take a hike or two in Khosrov Reserve. I want to try to visit Kakavaberd fortress.
I read the Khosrov Reserve website about the guided hikes on offer. It seems that I need permission to visit and to reserve any hike. Is this correct? Is it difficult to arrange permission and a hike? I will travel solo, will that be a problem?
Also any other tips about Garni and the area is appreciated. Many Thanks!!
