Surprised to see water
Aug 2018 • Solo
Very dry area so it is something novel to see water. A few remotely nice picnic areas but it's probably not worth it.

we travelled to lake cooby on the hope of a walk of around 4-8k. the website suggests such, on arriving at the boat ramp and picnic area no such walk was too be seen or found on the tourist boards ; was quite annoying, the views and picnic areas were very nice

TRANQUIL PLACE!
Apr 2017 • Friends
Some friends and I travelled from Toowoomba for a B.B.Q. and a picnic lunch. Very restful, peaceful and tranquil. The environment was serene. A most relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

NO SHADE SAILS ON PLAYGROUND
Nov 2016
We visited in November 2016 wit 2 young grandchildren. It was a hot day and weren't any shade sails over the equipment so the slippery slide was too hot to slide down. Clean toilets and BBQs. Be careful of the speed bumps as our car (Mazda 3) bottomed out on one of them.

This is one of my local dams that I go kayaking with friends, it is quiet and very picturesque. There is a picnic site with BBQ's and children's play area.

Shush-don't tell anybody about this place!
Oct 2016 • Family
My husband went here as a kid and enjoyed it and wanted to take our 9 year old and me to see it. We also went with another family with a 6 year old.
We drove towards the dam wall carpark, and carried on to the next carpark which has the pump house, toilets, BBQs and picnic tables. You can also see the second carpark from the dam wall.
From here we went down a few stairs, over a little bridge, and here we made noises just outside what we called Echo Tunnel. It makes great echoes. My husband tapped he foot on the concrete and it echoed back clearly a few times.
We walked a little further and we came to a very interesting rock area. Our rock hopper children enjoyed looking in the rock pools and clambering around. I have never seen anything like this before. We were the only people in this area. It is a well-kept secret. Now that I think of it, there wasn’t any litter there either. Maybe it would be better if I don’t do a review.

Dont go fishing
Feb 2016
I have now been to cooby dam twice to go fishing. They do stock fish in the dam. But i have never caught one. There is ni structure and from the sounder they are all down 40 foot. Maybe bait fishing would be a good option the fish sere in schools.

Dont Bother
Jan 2016 • Couples
Having visited other dams like Summerset Dam, we thought we would go for a drive, and take our little dog for a walk.
At the entrance is a large sigh with a list of DONT's that is far longer than things you can do.
I understand that to keep the area safe and clean there should be rules about dogs, for example dogs must be on a lead at all times and "clean up any mess" your dog may make but top of the list is No Domestic Animals. Dont clean fish, followed by a list of donts. There is a small playground which I would not let children near, due to the over grown grass and risk of snakes. We saw "one" picnic table with bench seats, didnt see any BBQ's. The "dam" is more like a large lake or creek. The whole place looks run down and needs a good clean up. As this is one of the "attractions" suggested for people to visit while in Toowoomba I can say it does nothing to promote Toowoomba at all.
