We visited in August to hike on higher grounds. Nice way to get great views quickly! Please note the lift is only to a substation as the remainder is not in operation. The walk up is quite steep incline, definitely not 'easy' walking, but very rewarding once on top.
When we arrived the lift stopped for some technical checks giving us confidence on the safety. They stop the lift on request for people that are anxious or unable to 'hop-on'.
On the site we read the lift has a minimum of people to operate, but on different pages it mentioned 3 and 6 persons. When we wanted to return however they told us minimal 10 people, so we (group of 4) had to wait 15 minutes - not too long but unexpected...

A very cool location for Paragliding or just hiking in the woods. An old Soviet era ski lift takes you up to the top of the mountain. From there you can hike up, down or launch your Paraglider.

This was the first extreme sport to start with in Lift Sopot, I was not exited first, in fact when it started closer to the jump and fly, i felt things dramatically changing, becoming more and more extorted.

When I flew, the feelings were totally different, unbelievable, with a very professional instructor, had done many acrobatic rotations which in writing can't be transferred the true feelings.

This extreme exercise requires, the well to do it, ONLY, grab your WELL and get the climbing chair and go for the jump, capture one of your best moments in your life with joys and smiles.

Rating:
10/10

Difficulty:
Not difficult, but overweight have to consult the instructor, while landing weight might transferred to the knees!

I have been travelling to Sopot Bulgaria to paraglide since 2010 and seen the lift at Sopot improve consistently over that time. The new buildings completed a couple of years back with the swimming pool and new restaurant are excellent and offer a non-adveture day for non-flying partners. The existing cafe has also been rebuilt and has a great offer of food and drink for casual visitors. The whole vibe around the place is very chilled with pilots and mountain bikers as well as hikers and other adventure seekers from all around the world taking in the scene between activities.

While on our trip around Bulgaria we kept hearing about this amazing place in a little town named Sopot, and our friends kept telling us that it would not disappoint. It didn't, in fact, it exceeded all our expectations. Having a pool, 2 cafes with great food and personnel, a mountain lift, and all of that surrounded by gorgeous nature, this place truly deserves to be called excellent!

We discover sopot for our day hike to the peak “Ambarista”. You can lift up to 1400 meters and on the way to the summit is a beautiful hut. At the summit you have an amazing view on the botev, the highest peak of the central balkan. At the lift in sopot are more adventures, for example paragliding, downhill or just drink a coffee in the homely cafe and enjoy this place.

I usually use the lift only for going up. Then I fly tandem paragliding. The tourist use it to go to Dobrila and Nezabravka huts.
The place is gorgeus! Great views, amazing Mountain. 20 min. with the lift to the first basement. The second part is not working for years. Near the lift have a swimming pool, small bar and coffee also. I love this place!

I rode the lift to it's final destination with the intent to shoot photos of the springtime as it emerged. When talking with some of the locals I discovered that there is much more to do here than parasailing. Don't get me wrong, I am told this is a much sought after location for those who wish to fly. A further benefit is the opportunity to try parasailing for the first time. Yes, there are fliers there who will take you up far a reasonable fee. Many people also take their mountain bikes to the top to have an adrenaline rush racing down the mountainside. Also, a person can hike up to some trails here both up and down, riding the life as one half of the trip or walk both directions. All in all, a fine place to spend a day.

First lets say- take a look to the Monastery, near the lift and walk to the waterfall up to the forest. Take a look to the sky also- you can see me flying with somebody:)
You can use the lift to visit Dobrila hut- on the top of the Mountain. The price is 10BGN, but the lift start work only for a group of three(or two after 30min. of waiting)
There are big parking place, nice bar, swimming pool, toilets, etc. Don't miss this spot!

I've used the lift in previous visits to Sopot. I'd recommend it as an inexpensive and lazy way to spend some time outdoors. It is especially good during hot weather; not very good during cold and windy weather. If you have a camera, it would be good to take it along.
