The Pont Nou is a narrow stone bridge crossing the River Ter, at the confluence with the River Ritort, in the centre of the town. It separates the Liaa de Arriba (upper town) and the Lilla de Abajo (lower town). It is impressive and has to be seen. The yellow tassles on the metal fence and the yellow symbols on the bridge are a political statement, namely, free Catalan political prisoners
The bridge was constructed between 1196 y 1226, and rebuilt in the 14th century, as part of the important packhorse trading route to la Cerdaña, a land area of 1,086 km2 (419 sq mi), divided almost evenly between Spain (50.3%) and France (49.7%).

Spanning the gushing river gorge below and still very walkable if narrow. The Romanesque stone bridge was heavily damaged by Franco forces towards the end of the Civil War as Catalan partisans escaped certain death and crossed the Pireneo into the safety of France and later restored under Catalan autonomous government.

It stands as an impressive feature of this small and beautiful hill town, Beautifully lit at night time and very romantic. a good many marriage proposals we feel at this bridge over the years. Just stand in the middle and take a deep breath of the damp ozone atmosphere...

In this region, there are a few of these romanesque bridges (one in Sant Joan de Abadesses also). The pont nou is right in the center overlooking the river. From up top you can get a good view of the river side and the surrounding hills. A must see when in Camprodon.

This nice bridge is situated in the town centre of Camprodon, over the River Ter. I been told that the name probably makes reference to the existence of a previous bridge.
The bridge was damaged by “Franco” during the Civil War when Catalan partisans excaped into France.

The bridge (rebuilt after damage in the civil war in 1939) is not an exact replica of the original but a beautiful structure all the same.
