Well if you are adventurous and have courage then..a 2 hours climb to Birni and worshiping Birni Devi in Palampur is worth of climb and time...a Panorama both side North has Wide and up close views of Dhauladhar Range down south a stretch from Baijnath, Sujanpur Kangra, Palampur, Paror..a view no words to describe....carry your food ...you can even camp using Tent, pure natural mineral water is available....but remember do not Trash Nature and surrounding...and be a responsible tourist and trekker

If not for the religious significance visit this place for its beautiful trek. Not too difficult to climb but it does involve lot of walking. The view of Dhauladhars that you get on the way is stunning though and worth all the effort :)

The car journey ends at jakhani mata temple and trek to birni mata starts. This is one of the easiest treks which you can do with young children and "not so old" parents. The locals have homes on the way and they can guide your way across the forest to reach the birni top. We used to go to this place during our school days in palampur.
It is best if you start early morning at around 6-7 am. You can reach the top in around 2-3 hrs (normal walkers) spend some time there and come back in the afternoon or evening. You can also camp for the night as there are small huts of local shepherds which are generally empty and open.
If you are looking for solace and a little adventure in palampur, this is a must visit place. Best time to visit is october to december. Avoid monsoon season (july-august)

The temple is located at the height of 2200 meters above sea level , its a nice but steep track with minimum 1.5 hours climb. The track provides commanding view of the Palampur city and velly . one should carry adequate drinking water and eats since there is no habitation on the way except one odd hamlet.

The hotel temple view really does have a view of the temples in Bagan, but most places do. The stuff was friendly and the room was nice and big and clean. The hot water worked well and the internet was fast. The breakfast was really good and you can eat outside which is nice and look at the temples and watch the hot air balloons in the morning. I would recommend this place, for sure. It's an easy walk from restaurants and other misc shopping.
