I had a wonderful time on the 2 Day Gorilla Safari in Rwanda. Payment was easy and safe. My driver Emmanuel was wonderful and very helpful. He made great recommendations and was very flexible to meet my schedule. The hike was challenging and rewarding. I would recommend wearing hiking shoes and bringing gardening gloves as well as hiring a porter. I would also recommend thick pants to avoid the stinging nettles.

We just returned from a 22 day Ugandan safari with Insight. Just amazing. I reached out via the website and Calah replied back in just a few hours. She and our guide, Jack, did a great job of expanding on the 15 day itinerary on their website to fit the extra time we wanted to spend in Uganda. Once we started our trip, Jack was like one of the family. His sense of humor, knowledge of the area's culture, wildlife, and everything else. just fir right in. Even when things were a little slow as we looked for different animals or we spend a few hours transitioning from place to place, the three of us were cracking up. I can't emphasize enough how helpful Calah was pre-trip and how dedicated Jack was to making sure we had a great time. I'm so glad we decided on Insight. We had such a great time, we spent the last few days drafting a tentative itinerary for our next trip to that part of the world. Can't wait!

Insight Safari is an independent, local company that we found recommended in various internet searches. Being from the US, I know it seems a little scary sending a deposit overseas and wondering if you made a mistake. Don't worry - they are reputable. Calah handled all of our bookings and permits, including two reschedulings due to COVID. She was extremely professional and responded quickly to any questions we had. Thanks, Calah! Our driver/guide was Bahati Moses. If you look up other reviews, you will see how lucky we were to have Moses. Extremely experienced (8 years), concerned with our experience, and very dependable (he came an hour early just to pick us up!), he was invaluable to the success of our safari. What we admired most about Moses was his flexibility. When we were tired, he would adjust the times and program to accommodate us. And Moses took extra efforts to make sure my daughter had the easiest gorilla trek with the best guide when she was under the weather. We met a number of other guides from Insight Safari along the way and other customers were very happy with their experience. But there was something very special about Moses and so we suggest that you ask for him when booking. As for the places we stayed and ate, we got exceptional value in our midprice range. The stays were very good quality and conveniently close to the places we needed to visit. You will always eat plenty and many places provided very high cuisine. The key is to book early (about a year in advance) to get the good places to stay/eat as well as the permits for the parks. For those interested, we did an 8 day safari in Uganda only, covering Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi National Parks. We did 1 day of Chimp Habituation in Kibale and 2 days of gorilla trekking in Bwindi. The chimp habituation did not work out because we came in dry season and the lack of available food made finding these primates impossible (maybe try at the end of the rainy seasons instead?). If you get chance, definitely do the gorilla treks - a lot of physical effort but well worth it (see our reviews of these in TripAdvisor). Here are the places we stayed (summaries below - more detailed reviews are available in TripAdvisor): Kibale NP - Isunga Lodge (4 star dining, awesome views, probably the best stay) Queen Elizabeth NP - Twin Lakes Safari Lodge (infinity pool, adequate) Bwindi NP - Bakiga Lodge (eco-friendly setup but we would suggest you stay elsewhere - see our review for details) Lake Bunyonyi - Arcadia Lodge (awesome food and great rooms, excellent place to finish the safari and wished we stayed another night!) Bottom Line: Insight Safari is the real deal and we hope you get Moses as your driver/guide!

Just returned from a 12 day tour of Uganda including chimpanzee and gorilla trekking. Calah was super helpful in organizing our tour and was extremely flexible with the many changes I suggested throughout the booking process. Edmund was our guide and we could not have asked for a better person to be our guide and driver. He made our trip. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed his company - he kept the trip fun and his laugh was infectious. He went above and beyond in every category to make sure our trip was enjoyable. He answered all our many questions and I swear that everyone in Uganda knows Edmund :)! We went to Murchison Falls NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Kibale NP and Bwindi NP. We saw all the big game: gorilla, chimp, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, rhino, hippo, giraffe, warthogs, monkeys and too many deer and birds to count. We went with mostly moderate accommodations - they were all exceptional and the food was great. In addition, we went hiking, kayaking on the Nile and horseback riding - I highly suggest all activities! Including market shopping or as I liked to call it "supporting the local community"! Gorilla trekking was the highlight of the tour - the trekking was arduous but doable (you can go at your own pace). The time spent with the gorillas was worth it! If you have time, spend an extra day in Bwindi NP and hike some of the other trails - absolutely incredible.
