The archeological site of Venosa was one of the main reasons for visiting Basilicata and we weren’t disappointed. The site is really two sites of interest in one destination, after paying your 4 Euros you enter through the remains of Roman Venusia where the street system is visible and buildings along the street are identified. To the rear is the old church and standing walls of the Incompiuta, the unfinished or new church from the last quarter of the eleventh century but not completed.
The whole site is interesting and worth a couple of hours visit.

Covers a wide area with a beautiful view on the outskirts of town. The Holy Trinity church is part of the park and is a must see!!

We saw this with a guide and that made all the difference unless one is able to interpret what is seen. In any case, as the church is a must for visitors to Venosa, there is no reason not to see the digs also.

We came to the archeological site after visiting the museum. There is a big parking lot next to it. The site consists of mostly ruins but some half intact walls and columns. At the far end of the site is the Trinity Church which has some artifacts on display, which we did not go see. My only complaints is that the weeds are quite overgrowns and need mowing, since visitors may have to walk on the grassy areas. There is a Roman theater there as well but it is closed. WC's are available on site.

Non ne ho la certezza, ma credo di sì. È un parco completamente all'aperto!
